Exhausts on W140

Hey guys, I want to get exhaust on my benz but i hate how there is no indent in the rear valence for tips to stick out, instead they stick out the bottom which looks very ugly. Has anyone or does anyone know who can mold an opening in the rear valence so that an exhausts tips can stick out normally ? any help is appreciated.

Take it to a body shop and have them cut a piece out for whatever tip you have to fit coming straight out. Bring them the tip and tell them where you want it protruding. I've seen it done on BMW 7 series.

naw thats crap, I getting REAL exhaust. I'm gonna buy the Remus twin exhaust tip exhaust. it has a very high quality refined noise and looks very clean, not to mention its only about $300. the only thing stopping me at the moment is the rear valence which I will have to find a place that can change that for me.

Please let me know the model and part number for this Remus exhaust...I have contacted many many dealers in Europe and the US and have been told there is no aftermarket exhaust available for a 140 ( at least not a 600 )

By the way if you cut off the down slope of the factory exhaust and weld on the exhaust tips from ebay it looks just like a Brabus ( with no sound difference obviously )

they do not make a specifc one for the 140, HOWEVER they do mane the remus dual tip universal exhaust which has the same 2.25-2.5 inch single inlet which is what most of the benzes have (at least my 6 banger does). its not very big and is MUCH lighter than the stock factory exhaust so fitment should not be a problem at all. the only problem is the rear valence and the exhaust tips situation, which is why i made this post. Once i get everything done I can put on the remus exhaust which should help as well

POLL: Should i take off just stock muffler and replace with remus?
OR
should I also take off the stock resonator as well and replace with straight pipes up until remus exhaust?

i'm curious to know your opinions, also i could do option two in steps and do muffler first and then if i'm still not happy with results I can replace resonator too

I think you should get the resonators cut and get the Remus exhaust. Yes, get those resonators cut! Your`re getting the round tips right?

i'm thinking about it, most resonators are not very restrictive but i bet ours are horrible. either the twin rounded square tips (not the boxy kind like posted above) or the twin circle tips. The other option is just take out cats all together and running striait pipes all the way to the remus. that would be best performance and the car is so old anyways it really doesnt matter. i can just save the cats. in AZ i don't even think they do emissions testing anyways.

and I could port and polish the headers and just run straight pipes up to the remus exhaust, it will be substantially louder but very nice sounding.

it should not cost to much to do all that, remus exhaust plus piping will come out to about $350-400 total and i can port and polish the headers myself so that won't cost anything.

what yall think?

I wouldn't want the exhaust to be too loud. Just get those stupid resonators cut, and get the Remus exhuast. Wonder why the AMG exhaust isn't that loud until you reach high RPM's?

i hate loud exhaust but i also HATE stock exhaust that are so quite you can hear a whisper over them. The 3.2L motor sounds amazing at full throttle (similar to my M3 motor) and a remus exhaust would really help noise and it would actually probably give really good gains just b/c stock is so restrictive, and also the weight is another big factor.

Mosselman Twin turbo kit is $6500 retail but you can find it for about $6000 flat. Its the best well engineered kit and will give you roughly S500-S600 performance depending if you are short or long wheelbase (weight plays a factor). I think I will just get a stealth 50-75 shot NOS kit and get it professionally installed.

I already installed intake and that helped alot, makes the car feel alot peppier. switching to 10W-30 synthetic will also help make the motor feel alot better. Intake really helps the motor not feel so chocked, the other side of that is the exhaust so thats my next step. but man on the dyno it sounded so badass even stock. with intake it sounds almost like V8 (alot more grunt down low).

NOS is really the best option and I'm anti-NOS but on a car with so few modication options there really is no other way.

actually its to minimize noise more than anything, but ya that could have a slight effect on how dirty back end of the car is. either way they are but ugly and horrible for air flow so they gotta go
