sold 1989 420sel
1992 vs 1993 500s 500sel
Just sold my 1989 420sel and i am looking at the above models.
Questions: 1-What is the difference between the 500s and 500sel?
2- Do these models still have the infamous timing chain?
3- Are there well known problems with these models?
4- Are the engines similar to my 89sel?

engine wire harness problem,if not updated.Plastic cam oilers,and plastic heater tee.

also inside ac evaporator likes to leak,expensive to repair.Some have used a freon sealer,and been fine for years.

I cant find any 1993 sel's with in 100 miles of my location.

up to 1995 has the better leather,though they may have the old 4 speed trans. Lower rpms on highway with a 5 speed.
