Exclamation HELP! Installed new wheels but its rubbing - need fender roll help! :(

Just installed Pirelli p-zero 275/40/18 on the back of my w220. Had some rubbing on bumpy roads.

Its the fender that is rubbing against the wheel. best solution is to do a fender roll i have been told but I have never seen this done or how its done.

Anybody did a fender oll on a w220? need pics and instructions please!

hmmm

Hey, i had the same problem with my 20" , but it turned out its only the metal clip where the bumper is attached to the metal in the wheel arch that made all the rubbing, could that be the case with your wheels ?
My wheels are 245/35-20"

Even w/rolling your fenders your still gonna have issues, your tire choice is too big.
275/40!!!! no way that's gonna work you need 275/35/0r 275/30 to make it right. You'll still probably need rolling when using 275's

You know what my bad I thought you were running 20" tall wheels like me, since your not and only running 18" wheels YES the 275/40/18 should work
I don't know why your having problems sorry, I should have read your original post more carefully

Hey,

I pm'd you the other night I think. Sorry for the rubbing, I told you they probably wouldn't. First you need to see where they are rubbing. then just lightly tap with a jewelery hammer to basically beat or "roll" the metal down flat(of course, inside the quarterpanel). Only do the spot where they rub.
Good luck, you must have 8 inch wheels with the wrong offset or just the wrong offset, mine have never rubbed once and I lowered it..

Pm me if you need more help.

Scott

Here's my setup:

18x8.5 AMG Double Spoke Bright Sil
w/ 245/45WR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 XL (front)
and
18x9 AMG Double Spoke Bright Sil
w/ 275/40YR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (back)

I have had almost no problems, except when I hit a serious dip at a fairly high speed. I watch the tires for wear spots, but none has ever appeared so I am very confident that no damage is being done. Do not worry about an occasoinal "buzzzzt" because I doubt you are doing any damage.

Hey guys,

Thanks a lot for all the help!

Anybody got any pics of a fender roll on a W220?

williws, i'm running 18"x8.5" all around with 275/40 at the back and 245/45 in front. I watched for the rubbing and the tire only rubs on the fender from the outside. Think we need to roll the fender.

Unless it is actually damaging the tires, I wouldn't roll the fenders.

I agree on the fact that your tires are too big..I have Pirelli P-Zeros on my whip as well(275/35/19 in the front and 275/35/19.5 in the back) and they hardly ever rub unless I hit a bump hard or drop into one of those dips in the road.
