passenger side mirrior acting up
sometimes the passenger side mirrior does not go down when the car is in reverse. has anyone experienced the same issue and of so, what should i look for to resolve this.

intriguingly, my 99 E320's pax mirror wouldn't always return to normal position
after dipping while in reverse. this lasted a couple of months. was so incon-
sistent that it was difficult to demo to the dealer. then, as suddenly as it
started, it stopped and returned to normal function. someday, I'll get my
hands on a busted unit and disassemble to see how it works. no doubt we'll
be able to identify where the likely cause of slippage is. but for now (knock
knock) it's working fine. i dunno, weather, soapy wash, insect guts....??

not intending to insult by asking the obvious, but you have it set properly,
yes? with my 99 and 2000, the mirror selection must be set to the RIGHT
mirror in order for memory reverse to occur. presuming that you have it
set properly. you're saying that it was working fine and then it ceased to
function, right?

I had a similar problem a while back. Try this, like Raymond said ensure your selection is to the right side mirror, engage your car in reverse then manually set the mirror to the position desired, put in drive and let it go back to your normal driving position then try reverse again and see if it wants to play. Sounds stupid but it solved mine.

hey thanks for all the replies and no insult taken at all. as far as the settings, i'm the only one driving the car so the setting should have been left were it has always been, but thanks for the pointers, i will double check and see if that is the problem. sometimes its always the obvious things that gets overlooked. thanks for all the assist.

The same thing happened to me the first few times I backed my car. It took me about a month to figure out why the damn thing wouldn't work on occasion and did work properly at other times. Here's my solution: Press the Right mirror-adjust button (not the close mirror button) IN and leave set there. My mirror has never failed to work "properly" w/ that setting. If you do adjust the drivers-side mirror, just remember to re-press the right side adjust button back in afterward. I don't know why it is set-up like that, but mine is, and it works well once you figure it out.
Good luck!
