Facelifted headlights, can they be changed?

Hi everybody,

I've just been told that its a major pain, upgrading the headlights from the
<-02 headlights to the 03+, due to design changes on the facelifted front end.

Does anybody know if thats true ?
I've only heard it from 1 person, and 3 others havent said anything about it, exept that i might need a module for the xenon lights to work, because i dont have xenon now...

Can anybody help me ?

Thanks

My headlights now :

It can be done NO PROBLEM...Contact Steve Krabbenborg from this forum, he did mine.

Steve K. Only sells true OEM parts and real Bi-Xenons there are a few places out there selling look a like lenses but they aren't OEM or Bi-Xenon.

Here's mine...

Did you change the hood as well?

Hi thericker55,

That looks really great!
Btw, I noticed your have the 06' facelift Hood which looks amazing . Do you actually have to replace the whole hood or just the grill? If the whole hood, I assume only dealer has it, doesn't it?

Thanks much

Thank you for the comments You need both hood, and grill, new hood is a must w/conversion it's actually 1 3/4" taller than the old 00-02 hood, they had to make room for the new V12 TT so they just made the new hood bigger on all the newer models.

Bought it on line from buymbparts.com great prices much better than Stealership.

Hey dane, I have no interest in the 03+ headlights, but where did you get your clear lenses for the headlights?

You can't buy the clear lenses seprately, at least I've never seen it done as 1 part is from a 00-02 and the new 03 up headlights w/clear lenses are different probably not compatible.

I pulled my old 00-02 lights apart and they would look like crap if you could somehow put clear lenses on them, they dont have the same internals just exposed H/7 bulbs....

Clear Lens

I changed mine in about 45 minutes. It's really quite easy to do but I did take the car and get the lights aligned at my local dealer. If you buy the halogen look ones like I did, you need to install 100 watt bulbs because the stock bulbs are not bright enough.

Newton22 :
My headlights are the standard pre-facelift ones, they just look clearer than normal on that picture....
I acctually think they do a excellent job considering theyre not xenon etc.

Glad to hear that i can upgrade my front without too much problems.

Thanks for the replies.
