Cell Phone

Does anyone know what brand the phone is for the 2002 S? Is it the timeport or the v60?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My 2004 S came stock with a Nokia. Incidentally, almost all MBs sold in Thailand come fully equipped with cell phone wiring and the phones,

Mine came w/ a Moto StarTac. I just wish MB would make an adaptor so that I can use my Moto V3 Razr! While there are non-MB "solutions" already on the market--which I don't trust--MB seems oblivious to their own customers needs. Bummmmmmmmmer...

See the phone bulletins on Paul's website at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsit..._bulletins.htm

Assuming your car is an S500 or S430, it should have been equipped with an Autosense PSE, which could be used with either a TimePort or a V60. You can tell which your car was set up for by checking the part number on the cradle (part numbers are at the end of the phone bulletin).

If you prefer to use a more modern phone, check put www.mikbox.com and http://forums.mbnz.org/publications/pub.asp?id=317

Motorola V60

Yes, the 2002 S-series came with a Motorola V60. The phone, if your car does not have one, can't be purchased at a standard cell phone store. Rather, it must have a MB logo on it to integrate with the car system. I have one for Verizon that I don't use. I paid for a Sprint compatible phone just a month ago ($575) at the local dealership. It was essentially "plug and play". Very easy.

No offense ruffrob, you drive a 97 E class. Until you have used the integrated voice-activated car kit, you'll never know true hands free. Did the 97 have power windows?

I just had the Hands Free/Voice Control kit installed in my S430 and it is great. I purchased the compatible cradle from AWS and a non-branded Moto V557 phone...gave both to the SA for the install and it works like a charm. See my post MB NAV...it's great!!!
