Fog Lights?

I just bought a 2003 S500... I've read the manual 5 times, and I can't figure out how to turn the fog lights on?

Any help please?

Easy, but this works only by turning the light switch to headlights-on mode (not the automatic light mode where the switch position set to AUTO or 0 on older models). Just turn the switch all the way to the right with the ignition on.

Then you have to pull the light switch out. One stop turns on the front fog lights (one light indicator goes on) Pulling it out 2 stops turns on the single rear fog light as well (two indicator lights-next to switch turn on).

If you are done and want to switch back to auto-lights, just switch back to AUTO or 0.

You can also rewire the rear fog light to work on both sides instead of the one.

Turn your headlights on and pull the knob out two clicks. Then look at your tailights, one on the left will a lot brighter. That's the rear fog.

Just turn it on and take a look! I don't recall if its a separate bulb or simply one of the brake lights. Either way it is as bright as the brake light and is better visible to cars behind you.

I personally hate it when the rear fogs are on both sides. I like to distinguish if somebody is braking in front of me or just driving.

@ wolfman,
the reason to only have one fog light, is to distinguish between brake light and fog light. :-) Please dont tell me this does not satify you, since it can also be the one brake light is out :-). Therefore you have the fault readings plenty in the W220

You don't want to have two rear fog lights. Drivers behind you will assume you are constantly braking. Only single left side is represented as rear fog light.

Be careful with fog lights. I drained my new battery because I assumed they would auto turn off when I parked for the night. They did not, unlike the headlights.
