2001 S430
First time owner of a S430.

Hi,
I just purchased a 2001 Mb S430 with 56900 miles for $27000. Just drove it from Dallas,TX to Savannah, GA without any problem. I love the car. What a great ride!!
Just could not understood few gadgets.
1: Does this car has tire pressure sensors?
2: Does this car has convenience feature like opening windows and sunroof with
the car's remote?
3: Does it has rain sensors that start vipers automatically?
4: The car gives me about 25-26 miles/gal. Is it normal?
5: I didn't get any service menual that says about schedule of service. where
can i get one?
6: Can we change oil at regular lube stations or it has to go MB dealer?

I Thank you all in advance for your help.

1. Probably Not... I saw it referenced in the manual, but I don't think it's there unless it was purchased.
2. Yes it does, point your remote at the trunk or the side of the car and hold down the unlock button for about 3 seconds and keep holding it and windows and the sun roof will go down. Close them with the lock button.
3. Yes it does. Put the wipers on I and it will wipe when there is rain present.
4. That sounds better than what I get... I get like 17-18MPG
5. I would suggest you do what I did... go to your local MB dealer and make friends with them.
6. I tried to pull that a Jiffy lube and he told me he did not have the right filters for the car... he told me it would run about $80 to change it. Went to the MB dealer and got the oil changed for $32.00

#6-Also be careful where you get your oil changed. MB uses only fully synthetic oil (I use Mobil 1 oW40 8.5 qts)

Sorry I'm an idiot... I also had them change my front tires, alignment, etc... etc... I got lost with all the charges...

It was $32.00 for Labor, $54.00 for the Filter and something else for the actual oil.

I love the S430. My mother has a 2001 Black on Java S430. It has plenty of power for the highway too! Can cruise all day at 120-130 no problem although dangerous. What options do you have, etc? I love the way it rides. And airmatic is fun to play with...

Sounds about right. And I'd definately do my own oil changes, but you'd still have to take it back to the dealer and get that maintaince computer on the dash reset right? And I heard the filters were "special" and different from regular filters.

And ZJ, the S430 has no power at all. You sure it was stock? lol

You can reset the computer yourself. Go to the menu that tells you how many miles before service and just push "R". It resets back to 10K miles.

Haha, yeah I'm sure it is stock except for wheels! I am not 100% about the ECU, but we know the PO and he didn't tune it, but it wouldn't make much of a difference on the S430. As in no power, do you mean around town or high end? 0-60 is a little under 7 seconds for ours (yeah nothing special) but has cruised on the highway between 120-130. It might have no power compared to a S500 or better! (i dont want you to think i am trying to argue with you)

I tried that with success one day. But then after, I am not been able to use that convenient feature, so that I can open windows with the remote from out side. What am I doing wrong? The remote seems like working ok,though!!I mean, battery is ok. Please help.

The range of the IR signal for opening/closing windows & sunroof with the key is fairly limited - 5 or 6 feet. When I first got my '00 S500, someone had displaced the IR sensor when doing some work (I think possibly on a window lift). Range was 2-3 inches. Once they moved the sensor back into place, it worked fine.
