S-Class vs. LS430 vs. 7 Series PLEASE READ, NEED INPUT
Ouch!
JFawwaz and KrispyK pretty much summed it up for me. From certain angles, the S-class looks sleek and sexy, but from many others it just doesn't look right. I'm talking about size, shape, contour, lines, etc.
.Yup, the new S-Class is supposed to debut in 2005
The love of Mercedes-Benz: http://www.mbspy.com/mblove.htm
Same thing goes for Land Rover, but you can see the difference a lot more there. As for their Volvo acquisition, ek. I'd like to have seen what would have happened to their cars without a buyout. They look like heavily-padded Tauruses...anybody remember the 960 and S70?
VIP styling? The LS430 is nothing more than average. From the headlight design to the overall box look of the car, it is just average. You are EXTREMELY bias by saying the pictures of the S-Class I posted do nothing for you, but those butt ugly pictures of the LS430 have supreme "VIP styling." Those LS430's look like they are right out of some ghetto rap video... they have no class at all.
The LS430 is not a bad car, but it surely is nothing spectacular. The LS430 is just an average car you see on the road, nothing special about it.
I don't care how obsessed with Lexus you are... even the diehard BMW lovers over at DTMPower who detest Mercedes-Benz love the S-Class.
I really do think you love the look of the S-Class, but you just don't want to say it because that would go against everything you have said throughout this entire thread D.
Go figure!http://clublexus.com/forums/showthre...threadid=56787
I love how you (Accord) go on and on about how Lexus is just a cheap copy of a Mercedes, and how they copied Mercedes and how it's a knock off... and then you go to say how it looks so bland and boring... I mean, is the S boring and bland too? Or is it just the fact that you don't like the shape of the sleek L in the circle and you preffer 30 year old stars?
) considers the Lexus to be a cheap alternative to a true German vehicle, or in other words; the poormans Mercedes-Benz/BMW.Lexus will be known as this to the general population until they separate themselves from Toyota and develop a vehicle that is truly extraordinary; which they have not been able to do thus far.
The only reason to purchase a Lexus over a Mercedes-Benz is if you are worried about cost. Aside from that, then this is a moot discussion.

This is gonna be fodder to make this thread even longer.
Nearly everyone in North America who is not a die hard Lexus fan (How someone can be one is beyond me, lol

See Accord, it is comments like that that make it clear what kind of person you are. Have you looked at any tests or interviews? Have you ever looked at anything that even remotely suggests that a Lexus is a poor man's Benz, because... I know a guy with a 350Z AND a GS400, and put those two together, and he could have gotten a S500. I mean, with the two cars that I own, I could have easily gotten an S500. With the money that people have used towards getting a used SC400, they could have gotten a used E320 or CLK. But no.. they remain with Lexus because it is not what you wish it to be. It is an alternative to Mercedes, but not to a poor man, to a smart man. I mean, go look at the comparison I did between the E and the GS.
If you want aggressive, why would you buy an E430 over a GS430? The E is so god damned boring. And a C coupe over an IS300? I mean... there I go again.... agressive... The Coupe looks like a little pig and the IS looks agressive if you ask me.
And you can't say the S is a better car because it looks agressive. If I am correct, it's a flagship car, not a sports luxury cruiser... The GS is the above and proves it in speed and luxury... the E does not. The LS is a perfect example of a flagship, whether you want to think so or not...
And continue on with your "Its just a Lexus" comment or your "I dont know how anyone would want one" because head on over to Clublexus.com and you'll find people (over 8000) who love their car, even people with 1990 ES250s.
and even besides the fact that you wont recognize that, some of you go even further by dissing lexus after they completely shook the lux-car market up...and furthermore, you put down lexus saying that they make crap cars, which just isnt true
right a v8 is in many cars..
i think the e-class is awesome.. mainly the e55 tho.. gs430 is nice.. not the new ones tho.. i hate all the new lexus looks.. i don't know why they did that. lol
How about try to seperate Daimmer from Chrysler? No, the MB or Chrysler can not stand alone without each other help. That why they make a deal that pissed a lot of people off few years ago.
MB is a good car company, but can't stand on their own. With the help of Chrysler, now they can share the cost of research, parts, platform and so many components that you will see on the MB and Chrysler products.
BTW, Toyota created Lexus, so, no way Lexus can break away from Toyota. But can MB break away from Chrysler, no, they just got married...Happy honey moon.
I'm not going to get into which car is better, i'm getting sick of this discussion. You all know my opinions and I know yours. Nomatter what any of us say, none of our opinions will change.
Otpi6600, I will lock this thread only if Musfather wants it locked since he was the one who created it.
Is there any way we can just cap off this thread Accord? Its wasting the time and space on the board I have found. The same arguments are being provided over and over again.
And in my odd attempt to fan the flames, I will say that the reason Mercedes doesn't have jack for capital compared to Toyota is that it manufactures a more elitist product. You don't see as many Benzes as Lexus and Toyota products put together. And the way I look at it, you can't exactly compare the two. Lexus just takes Toyota stock models, sends them to their engineering department, and tells them to create a higher-performance luxury car. And don't mention Saleen here please, heh. Benz as far as I know makes unique creations.
But in conclusion, the most obvious thing is that they're two brands of cars designed for two sets of people. A Lexus personality is different from a Benz personality. I don't know what defines these necessarily, but it does show a major rift in the thinking processes between a Benzaholic and a Lexusfreak.

Last Remarks:
All the cars are awesome, it all ends up on what you personally like!
If you want the "better" car get the LS
But if you want the best car
Get the S600

Then lets do em already, no? The horse has been beaten, set on fire, dragged, and THEN finally has been shot. It just needs to be buried.
