still man, all of your numbers are wrong.....the lexus is 2 more grand at 75 grand compared to 73.....and the lexus is 0-60 in 6.1, it might be .3, i just read it...but still a **** load faster than the s430. Its not my fault that the s430 is underpowered

btw dont get me wrong the LS430 is a beautiful car, but the S500 is better, now as for the S430... I think it should cost less and come with more stuff standard... If I was benz I would do this... there doing the right thing with the new S600 and S55 AMG engines, they should give the S500 the 02 S55 engine and the S430 the S500 engine

cali, do me a favor, and go to www.lexus.com then click on the ls430, then on the top left, press the down arrow, and go to specs....k...go down....and check out what the 0-60 time is, alright, thanks

and there is a big difference between 6.7 and 6.3.........its like, a car hitting u right on, or bairly missing...or a race between f1 cars....thats is a big difference..and then go to www.mbusa.com and click under models the s430. Go the features, and click specs...then on the right click preformance...and it will tell you that the s430 goes 0-60 in 6.9 seconds..pretty slow huh..that is over half a second faster..

giving the s430 the 5.0 litre engine wont lower any prices man....especially with more standard featues....with a 5.0 litre engine, it would be called the s500, and the s500 would be called the s55, and the s55 to the s600, and the new s600...to what a s580??

I can tell you right now that the LS430 is faster to 60 than 6.7. If that number was achieved, then they were either too low or too high at sea level. Remember that not all car magazines are smart.

I'm sorry about those comments. I thought it was you that said it, but someone kept saying that most people would not be excited with a Lexus, and I felt that was false. I am very very pleased with my GS430, and so are about 6000 other people I know.
I didn't mean to rag on the S or MB. Remember, I own one too, and am not always pleased with it, but most of the time I am. I guess I was just venting, and I've cooled down now.
The S600 is a phenominal car. I posted a while a go that my friend's mom has one and I took shots of it. The laser cruise control is sweet and so is the appearance. The only thing that made me think was the price on it and how much extra your paying for the V12 and a few more things. But if you have the money and your satisfied with it, then go ahead and buy it and be happy.
No hurt feelings or nothing...

ok first of all im sure you heard of what Benz is doing with the S600 and S55 AMG for 2003... there not changing the names on those, the S600 is getting a new more powerful V12 (0-60 will be in around 4.8 sec ) and the S55 is getting a new supercharged engine too... I was just saying Merc should have updated there other models while they were at it and I didnt even find 0-60 on the Lexus page but I read 6.7 in a magazine (i think) andI would still buy the S430 over the Ls430 even if it were jsut for the way the Benz looks (especially against that wierd looking LS)

i know what they are doing with the new s55/600...and the ls430 isnt 6.7, the mag is wrong, and if i were to decide i would prob go for the s also, just cuz we always wanted a mbz...im just saying lexus is a great company

just a side bar. i drive a 2002 S55. the sticker of my car was 101 and change. i got about 6 thousand off sticker. so....roughly paid 95 and change. that's 20 to 25 thousand more than an ls430. for that money i have a larger car...safer car...more powerful car...a hand built engine...more technology....limited production.... plus better handling and appearance.
so....when comparing the "S55" and the top of line lexus ls430...i paid more but.....i got more...a lot more.
so i wonder....which car has more value?
one last thing.... i love cars...not just MB...but...there is only one top dog....that's MB!

I like all of the cars we're arguing about, but I have a soft spot for Lexus. The S55 AMG/S600 are a very close second, but the 7-Series is way, way back there.

why does everyone think that the new 7 is so gay.....i think it is the nicest car out.....my jaw lowers is aww when i see one. Its so tyte, right behind the rear headrests there is a huge! piece of wood...and all the gadgets everywhere is amazing..Plus the interior is the nicest i have ever seen in my life....plus unlike the s-class it looks very long, i bet you guys, that you have mistaked the s for the c several times, the s doesnt look long at all from far away. i like it a lot, and the wood is very nice w/o the gloss and stuff, loks from the future, and the headlights are very nice looking...dont call me crazy though

i dont think the new 7 is super ugly, i like it, except for the trunk, that just looks weird. also, i cant comment on the interior cuz ive never been in one
also, if you look at the www.finestsedan.com link, you'll see that the ls430 not only beat out the benz s600, but super luxury cars like the bentley arnage, rolls royce silver seraph, and bmw 750il, all of which have sky-high prices
im not denying that the s600 and s55 are incredible vehicles, in fact, they are 2 of my favorite cars, but im saying that for the money, the ls430 is a better car
