ouch, he is right in some areas, mb did copy a lot of lexus...this is the first year, that the headlamp design is clear, and has projection lights...even kias and hyanduis have those...old gs's had those, very old es's had those also, even the old supras have them...i like mb much more than lexus, but mbs arent perfect at all

Yeah it does, the TT V-12s are coming ala Maybach to the S/CL 55.

In my only race with a 540 i 6 speed I beat him cause he SERIOUSLY missed a shift. Dude could not drive. I know, I also have a ES 300 MANUAL (I know, a manual Lexus ). But the 2 times I raced a 540 on the freeway from speeds of 80mph to 120mph plus, for all intents and purposes the cars were EQUAL. He could not pull away, I could not pull away. The only time when someone got ahead was a better manuver in traffic. (I love the 5 series).

THough with the M cars, AMG cars and the RS cars from Audi (that RS-6 for 85k is AMAZING), I do wish now that LEXUS would make a HIGH PERFORMANCE factory model. L-tuned is nothing compared to those.

 

The Twin-Turbo V12 engines are only in the S600 and CL600, the S55 and CL55 AMG's have a V8 Kompressor engine.

 

Hmm...allow me to provide some insight as to the quality of Lexus. Somebody mentioned the use of interior materials...what is it exactly that I see in the middle of the dashboard? Not only does Lexus have tons of plastic, but it's ugly plastic.

And here's a bit of humor. My friend and I were walking along, outside this little mall in Miami. We come across an LS430...I don't say anything...then we go around the back, we check the back as usual (it's been engrained in us by Mercedes, hehe), and we see a Gators license plate.

Even though I'm a complete computer geek without any interest in sports, I still have this beef with the Gators because of my friends. So we both look at each other, and just burst out laughing. First it was somebody with an LS430...if you're going to spend that much, get a Q45. Still as much plastic, but it's a ~350 hp engine, and much higher quality. Secondly, its some loser who actually had the urge to stick a license plate border on it...and a sport team of all things. Can't we get somebody with a Cognito Ergo Sum border? Hmm? Would it be too hard to see an S600 with a Darwin fish on the back (hah, that'd be a sight)...

Wow another supremist. The new S-class has be loathed by Benz loyalists for it's INTERIOR cheapness as well as every major magazine pointing out obvious cost cutting. Yet the LS and Q have a lot of plastic. There is no way u sat in either vehicle as IMO, the S-class, LS and Q all have very high quality interiors.

the s600 comes with almost everything stock! It has a friggin V12!

The interior is like.. DELUXE premium brand. sure the s430 was a sad car, but thats not the flagship..

Ive seen ugly lexuss too.. but the point is you cant judge the car or manufacture because of a buyer.

BTW, ive seen far more ugly MBs than Lexuss because the people are like Accord.. they buy the brand because they think it is ontop of the world and put it on, even if its ugly.

 

Perhaps age is a non-issue, but the possession of a driver's license is definitely an issue ... didn't know those who couldn't drive had such strong opinions about cars!

All I have to say thusfar is that opti6600 and absent are the biggest idiots on this board. Not only did they not provide any meaningful input that was worth even a prison inmate's time, but they only serve to bring down the image of Mercedes' enthusiests by showing the extent of their self-control and knowledge.

On a side note, I can't believe how many young'ns there are on this board! I always assumed this place had a majority of older yuppy folks. It appears to me as if us Lexus trolls have seniority around here, but I suppose that is expected since we are all old geezers driving glamour appliances .

 

Here's a little story that I think at least Accord might like. Today I was at the grocery store picking up some ice cream to combat the heat, and on my way out some lady asked me if I could jump her car. I pull over to her and low and behold, a BMW 535! Well the jump didn't work and I was getting edgy because of the heat, so she just called a tow and I left to go enjoy my hard earned ice cream!
