tire recommendations besides michelin ps2

what tires are reasonable for a 2001 merc s500 with the 18 inch amg wheels package. we have about 80000 miles on the car and it seems every 15K we are changing the ps2's . i m sick and tired of them.
what other brands are good and work well with the car,
thanks

bridgestone potenza re050a is a good choice.they are extremely comfortable while providing a high level of performance.the only drawback is a low treadwear rating. michelin pilot sport a/s would be the tire to have if your s-class is driven on winter roads.like the re050a, it strikes a good balance between comfort and performance.for all-out performance, i like bridgestone potenza S0-3 pole position.this tire may be slightly extreme for a refined luxo-cruiser like the s-class because of its stiff sidewall(and low treadwear rating also).but if you drive hard and fast and want your car to feel as if its on rails,it can't be beat.it is the best performance tire i have had.although i haven't tried this tire, dunlop sp sport 01 is something that might be worth looking into. i read that they are o.e. on the 07 sport s-classes.
good luck!

I had Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Positions on my 2001 S55 and they were much improved over the earlier version. They also seemed to have better tread life, although I just traded the car in with them so can't say for sure.

They are not available in all sizes, but check. In any case they are different tires than either the RE050A or S-03 Pole Positions, and based on my experience with all three on the S55, they combine the best of both older tires and go considerably beyond them.

or Toyo T1-R. I have ran both many times and both are great and cost 1/2 what the ps'2s will run you.

F1s are hard to beat

I run 245/45WR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 XL, front, and 275/40YR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, back, and they provide a fantastic ride. They have an aggressive look, race car handling, and luxury car ride. The Tire Rack rates them very high on almost every driving dimension.

try kumho

I have had good luck with kumho ecstas. they handle well and the treadlife is way better than the ps2.

I second the Goodyear F1's I run the same set-up as Jayhawk and they have much less noise compared to the PS2's. I run 36 psi Front 34 psi Rear per TireRack.

Should try the New Falken 452 tires. Go to edgeracing.com, they are a huge Falken dealer and they are between $135 and up for our cars. Great tire for the money. Because lets face it nothing is going to last under the 2 ton monsters.

Ditto on the F1's. Had them on my E55. Great in the rain as well.
