Exclamation NEW Mercedes-Benz WHITE STAR Flat Badge for W220 hoods!

Introducing the WHITE STAR Flat Badge replacement for the OEM upright hood stars. This part will fit any Mercedes-Benz that uses the #210 880 01 86 upright star -- including the W220 Sedan -- because it is made from the same OEM part.

One can swap between the WHITE STAR Flat Badge or the OEM star in seconds… Install the traditional star for formal occasions, and substitute the WHITE STAR Flat Badge for a sporty, everyday silhouette.

I make these badges in my machine shop, mostly on the weekends. After disassembling the OEM star, I machine the socket required to accommodate a legacy White Star insert I created myself. I cement this insert in place, then cast a tan plug, which holds the mount lock in place, and reassemble everything.

As a result, the WHITE STAR Flat Badge is a hand-made, limited production item. Each one is signed and serial numbered, and comes with a matching certificate of authenticity, carrying the same serial number. There are a handful of these currently in circulation in the US. I plan to make these only as long as there is demand.

If you've kept your W220 until now, you've probably had your fill of the only option -- the plastic SLK Badge that fades in the sun, and sits on top of the hood. The WHITE STAR Flat Badge sits within the divot (like the OEM star), so it is more flush with the hood.

So you now have the WHITE STAR Flat Badge to consider as a unique alternative.

If interested, send me an e-mail at the DFWdude@tx.rr.com...

Here are a few photos of the WHITE STAR Flat Badge on various MBs, borrowed from members who have shared...

Folks with W220 S-Classes have e-mailed me, asking how difficult it is to remove the upright star and install the WHITE STAR Flat Badge. So, I've compiled a sequence of photos, below.

In most cases, one can untwist the upright star with the thumb and forefinger. But in cases where the star has been on the car for years, a gentle nudge with a pair of pliers is all that is needed. Once loose, you can swap between upright and WHITE STAR Flat Badge in seconds...

I've sold two of these to W220 owners. Where are you?

I'd like to see one of these on an W220 S-Class. I'll bet they look neat.

I wonder if the blank base of the upright star on the W221 uses the same mount as the Laurel Wreath base on the W220?

yet, of the various flat badges available, that is the only one which both fits
into the recessed space and is handsome. not perfect (i dont like the flat
unappealing star) but an vast improvement over the formymercedes badges.
you can go AMG on Ebay. i wish the star was raised, beveled, and chrome
which gives it depth. the mount is solid, like a vault and easily manipulated.

This looks SOOOO NICE on the S! The frontal pic is sweet. The sight lines from the slope of the headlights seem to point right at the Badge (or the Upright star, for that matter).

ATM, Oxygen, you are in fact the only one with a WHITE STAR Flat Badge on a W220 S-Class. But with 6-9 left to sell before stopping production, I have received inquiries from two others. Time will tell if they join you. Still, an elite group for sure...

Oxygen, I have sold WHITE STAR Flat Badges to 4 S-Class owners to date, one this week. But so far, you are the only one to post pictures. So, you are still in a league of your own...

I agree that the grill with the star in the middle complement the White Star Flat Badge, nice looking badge.

I like it on Oxygen's car, just as it is. The standard grill and the hood star look subtle, in a classic Mercedes way.

Jackass, huh? The WHITE STAR Flat Badge uses the factory upright star. That includes the entire metal base and Laurel Wreath as provided by Mercedes Benz. To that I mill out the area formerly mounting the upright star and replace it with a metal (chrome plated copper) WHITE STAR insert. It's all metal, sir.

Thanks for the clarification on the "jackass" comment.

To be technically correct, there are plastic parts in this, because they come that way in the original OEM upright star. The "white parts on the side" are as they come from Mercedes Benz (I don't add them).

The resin plug in the bottom is not metal, but it has no structural function other than to center the bottom twist lock in position. And it's not visible when installed. And by the way, it replaces a "plastic" part found in the original upright star.

What I mean by all metal is that the VISIBLE parts of the badge above the hood which I add ARE metal, compared with the SLK badge you can buy at the dealer, which is all plastic from edge to edge.

Not sure I understand your question, because the "W208 version" is the upright star as it comes from the factory. Several owners dislike the upright star on a coupe, so replace it with the plastic SLK flat badge, or my WHITE STAR that sits more flush in the hood. Either gives the coupe a sleeker look.

I seem to be like one of the only people who does not understand why someone would want a flat hood badge on a Benz? I mean it takes so much away from the look IMO and especially, you don't get to see that nice star when you're driving

I've taken inventory... I have enough materials remaining to make a grand total of 350 WHITE STAR Flat Badges. As this is written there are 310 in circulation.

This leaves 40 left to be created and sold before...

terminating production.

If you are interested in this product, I encourage you to click on my Siggy below and send me an e-mail for pricing and availability updates.
