Got my very cool New Style OEM Smart Key today !
Do you think they finally jacked up the price because so many people were ordering these keys?!! Looks like I missed the boat :'(
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I was quite interested in having such a key as a spare.
I bought one with a dutch MB dealer, took 6 weeks of waiting and had to pay €286 (about $340,- I guess)
Now I noticed that the other key showed cracks in the plastic covering the push-buttons. So I went to the web-site and ordered a key. Some misunderstanding about my registration and drivers-license (sent 2 times and probably had to explain what the details meant) Then I got an apology-e-mail and a promise it would be supplied quickly.
And guess what? within 4 days a fedex parcel was brought to me.
In it was the key and a license plate light I ordered also.
Total payment about $75
Now I can start the car with the new key, but I can not yet switch the doors/trunk lid/alarm with it.
I have to find out how to do that. Anyone a tip for this. (other than visiting the MD dealership)
So far quite nicely surprised by OEMDIRECT.
And I must say: This key looks good and is really a 'show-off'gadget.
I got an email from Jamie telling me that on Feb. 6th MB raised the price of the key to 140 - they sell it a bit cheaper at 114 + shipping costs.
Before the 6th your local MB dealer could have got the key for you for a total of about 68 bucks...I'm not interested in the key anymore now that its 2x the price..no real reason to have 3 keys anyhow.
Does anybody else experience trunk opening problem? The way I see It is those having European W220 Models report this problem, not U.S. users.
the good news is.. I finally got the very cool new key today that arrived in the FedEx envelop but delivered by ups...
the bad news is... i ordered 2 sets of them, but i only found 1 set inside the package.
so I have e-mailed, faxed, and left a voice mail to Jamie and hoping he will reply to me shortly....
has anyone here order 2 sets of keys and had got them both? do they come in two different packages?

but still want to thanks benznodubz for bringing up this great link to our attention
thank you
Funny is that I am able to start and drive it with the new one.
It seems that at no extra charge a few puzzle's are thrown in at this deal.
I was surprised by the remark that it seems a problem only for the non US models.
The key is made in Germany (original MB and my VIN number should include that it is an european model.
Guess you are like me and having problems with your key, mine opens the doors and starts the car but won't open the trunk. I am going to ask MBUK if they can reprogram it free of charge next week ,as this is an original MB part supplied by MB. Hopefully you will be able to do the same with MBNL.
Left key in position 2 in the ignition for a few minutes and now all buttons are working fine. Guess the key needs to syncronize with the car first.
With luck this might work for you Kor
I found out that the key works for doors and trunk lid and alarm.
The distance was about 25cm (10 inches) and everything functioned.
Longer distances were not (yet) possible.
(very close control in stead of remote control)
Maybe new batteries will help.
How to change the batteries in the new remotes
First, remove the valet key by sliding the button and pulling. If you look in the notch where the valet key normally sits, you'll see a little ridge about 1/8" below the top of the key, just below the slide lock. Use a small screwdriver to push this in, while pulling up on the center part of the key. The center part of the key will slide up and out. Slide out the 2 batteries and replace, but watch the polarity.
