Why does everyone remind us that threads are old? Does it matter? Isn't it better to update an old thread with new stuff than to start another thread with the exact same topic?

Prices vary from dealership to dealership. They all add on a different series of numbers after the part number to create their own price.

You are completely right. They "cannot be programmed." At least that's what every single person at mercedes has been telling me. I still think they're all lying. They say it's laser cut and cannot be uncut. But that's bs b/c aren't these keys programmed electronically? Either way, no one cares to look into it enough. I suggested shipping my key over to Germany where they supposedly program keys to begin with and people keep telling me I can't do that.

I even ordered a key, paid for it $65 and the dealer turns back to me and says that the price raised. So much bull, but hter's nothign i can do.

I just checked out the website and the price is being quoted is not the same as what you guys are saying, I'm I doing something wrong or they just got smarter and raised the price.

i'm not bashing the thread update but time is relevant to price and if you read this thread and 2 posts up people come in and seem to be unable to look at the dates themselves and wonder why they are not getting the price thats 10 months old. totally logical using the same thread but in some cases the obvious needs to be pointed out to make sense of changes in the thread. dig?

You're totally right about the price changes. I agree with your thoughts above.

Exclamation

I've ordered the key from oempartsdirect.com last year but now their site is all the way down.

Can anyone suggest any other reliable source to purchase the new key at besides stealer.

Thanks!

I had to wait a week and pay twice as much for the same key (looks very similar) from my local MB stealer. 100% mark up! wow

Check this thread out:

I spent a lot of time with MBUSA today both on the phone to corporate and at the dealer. Here's some updated info on the chrome key thing.

At the beginning of this year the part numbers changed because they discontinued the black key. This means no matter what you order you will get the chrome key. The black key has been out of production for about 11 months.

The key is officially listed at $175, with my local sales tax rate it comes to $192.xx this is DEALER price without looking for a deal.

A little more ironically, at the exact same time the part numbers changed was when amgeezy's thread popped up. It looked like this chrome key was a special option secret, but in reality....... that's all you could get from the time that thread was posted on to now. It appears that a little knowledge of the situation at MBUSA combined with something that looked like a "Secret" made for a good opportunity to boost key sales. Any MBUSA agent or dealer can verify when the part numbers changed and the black key went out of production. Exactly when the chrome key thread popped up.

The result is that this huge rush of key sales prompted MBUSA to raise the price of the key to almost double. Had it been made aware to anyone that this key was no secret and it was the only option for a replacement key, we'd still be paying $68 for them.

I see things likes all the time on Ebay, just wondering if anyone else has went this route before

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCE...spagenameZWDVW

this add says it only works for 2006-08, but I'm sure that's just what the key was designed for, and it will work for our cars with programming.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-...spagenameZWDVW

How much does the dealer charge for programming?

Stay away from remotes on ebay or anywhere else. They don't work. Each car has a specific code that has to be programmed to the remotes and the dealer will not do it (actually, I don't think they even can). I bought two at the same time on ebay, spent $100, and got screwed and left with nothing but two useless (at least mercedes benz ) key fobs. I've talked to buddies of mine that have online factory replacement transmitter web sites and say you can't program the benz ones, you have to buy from the dealer.

This key has the blade insert sold seperatley to manually open the trunk and glove.

ps. Thanks to the boys in the C Class Forum for bringin this awesome upgrade to my attention.

Go to http://oempartsdirect.com/

Then go to: ( 2 ) Search by factory part number and in drop down box where it says (select make) put Mercedes.

Then cut n paste these part numbers

2117663606 ---- for the KEY STANDARD add to cart

Then cut n paste

2037665006 ---- for the BLADE SMART add to cart

You will obviously need to enter your VIN # in this process so have it handy.

Enjoy
will the blade insert fit in the new key that is currently in my orignal?

Can someone give the new part numbers? The old ones above are not showing on the link above anymore.

Also, does anyone know the part number for the keyless card that the 03's had?

Are there other places to get these keys at discount rates?
