Hey man, haven't see you in a while.

I recall hearing somewhere about how the Plat +4 were bad. Not sure if it was regarding the S-classes (somewhere in the back of my mind says I read it in the E-class forums).

I have Denso IK16s and they're pretty good.

Some people Swear by them.. To me, You have to have more performance component in your car than just spark plugs to make any noise....(Filters, Exhaust, etc..) otherwise it's just a good plug but so are the less expensive ones.. I like the BOSH Plugs a lot. When I replaced the Plugs in My ML, those were the plugs that were in it, so I replaced them with the same they only had 2 leads instead of 4.

In the end, it's about your feeling of paying the extra dough and noticing any difference in performance. Since plugs usually last the life of the car, i'd say.. no as long as it's a good plug like Bosh anyway.

The life of the car?? Where are you hearing this? Mercedes has it at 5 yrs/100k I think, but I swapped mine really early.

Well when you think about it newton, How many people keep these cars for more than 5 years or 100? If they do they only change the plugs once more in keeping with the schedule..so that's about the life of the car.

If you change plugs at exactly 5 years from new,, you would have had your car 10 years or have driven 200K miles before you should be worrying about plugs again

That said, I should only have to replace the plugs 1 time on anything I own if ever, so I should have said life of the car with me. LoL...

V-12 owners have to replace their plugs at 60K. All 24 of them.

Oh okay, I was thinking literally the life of the car itself. I swapped mine at 35,000 miles only because it was a 7 year old car (last year).

Life of the car should be not be 100K miles, that can be done is about 5 years. 200K maybe. I would think life of the car is from brand new purchased from dealer to either
- Crashed and total Loss.
- cost more to repair the cars worth.
- sent to scrap yard for part or crusher.
- 15-20 years of use.

I say if it is about 8 years or 80K miles or so it should be time to do major maintence. plugs, filters, tranny oil change, diff oil.
