S600 '02 ___Suggestions welcome......
Selling my S500 '97 and purchasing an S600 '02, can some one tell me what usual weaknesses to look for on that model before buying? Car looks very, very clean besides its 90,000 miles. Your turn to the home plate,,,,,,, Thanks

Instead of getting the 02 600 you'll probably be better off with 04 and up S500. I know you want that V12 but with 90K miles I dont think you'll want the upkeep. 03 and up S600 received the twin turbo pumping out 493 ponnies and is much faster than the 360's in the 02. Unless that car is really cheap I would stay away. Right now you can find the 04-05 S500 in the mid 30's and low 40's.

Yea I agree. I think you should stick with 03+ which included major upgrades to the w220. You'll definitely have less problems and lower maintenance than a s600.

Gotta love those V12s but I recommend that you get the model version from 03 and up. You have plenty of power, better features than the 00-02. If price is something you're concern then I would agree that you get the S600 02, but I want to add another since you are selling your S500 97, why not get an S500 03-newer? Just a thought

Kenstudios...
Well, what would you call "cheap" for an S600 '02, with actually 93000 miles now, instead of 90000 as I indicated before. The extra horse power does not necessarily send me, a Sunday driver here, and do not take it to work. Is it cheap if I can get it for $26000? Thanks for all the prompt and timely responses.

I feel confident you could find a lower mile example for that kind of money. Check Ebay, Autotrader, etc.

But then again, if you think thats a good buy just go for it. It's your money and you can get what ever you want.

S600's can easily become money pits. It's about $7-800 to change the sparkplugs alone. They have problems burning spark plugs up as well. Coil modules go bad on them. They torch the spark plug insulators alot. And they have been known to score up the cylinder walls on occasion. Plus they have ABC, with can be a can of worms on it's own. Not that Airmatic doesn't have it's share of problems, but they usually don't cost nearly as much to repair.
