Passenger headrest keeps moving up!
For some reason, my passenger side headrest moves up automatically.
It happens usually a little after I start the car.
Do you know what causes it to move? I have to constantly press the saved setting of 1 to get it back down.

Mine did that infrequently when the passenger door was opened and closed. I think I just did a minor readjustment of the memory setting, ensuring the headrest was down where I wanted it, and then saved that setting. Seemed to work.

Passenger Headrest Moving Up
Umm! Same thing happens to me. Everytime I get in to drive the car the headrest moves up. Sometime if I open either the front or rear door on the passenger side the headrest will move. Now everytime my girlfriend gets in the car she wants to know who move her seat. Readjusting the memory hasn't worked for me. I also had a problem where the battery was going dead. One evening while in the garage I happened to open the rear passenger side door to retrieve something from the car and heard this clicking noise. Of course Mercedes could not find a problem. As soon as I would touch the seat adjustment the noise would stop. The problem has mysteriously disappeared but now the headrest does it's own thing. I suppose as long as it is working I should not complain. Will have it checked out at the next service interval.

Nope, never had the windows tinted. Actually it started happening after the car was serviced. Must be something the serviceman at the dealer changed.

I took my car into the dealership and found out that the S Class Mercedes has a safety feature that automatically repositions the passenger headrest. It's not a defect...it's a safety feature and they all do it.
Even if you program the seat into memory it will still change the headrest back to the safety position.

It's not a safety feature but a convenience one. The passenger headrest repositions itself if the passenger seat isn't occupied. It's to allow for better sightlines for the driver or rear seat passenger(s).
This feature can be switched off via SDS. There is a DTB out regarding this issue. This feature is only on the 2003 S-class.

how to disable automatic movement of passenger headrest?
Anyone knows which SDS function can disable the feature where the passenger headrest automatically repositios itself? I found this feature not necessary, and quite annoying.
MB service advisor claimed it cannot be done via SDS.
Car is 2003 S500 4Matic, Canadian version (if that makes a difference). Thank you.
