AMG Gauge Cluster in Non-AMG W220

Would it be possible to install the AMG gauge cluster in a non-AMG S-Class?

I like the font a lot better...

You can but MB will not program it unless you know someone there that can do it for you off the record. I dont even think they will sell you one without an AMG vin#. Why do you want one if I may ask?

I was going to buy one from a totalled S55 AMG. The place selling it will program the cluster to match the milage currently on the car, so I don't need a dealership visit. I have the tools to swap the clusters.

The reason I like the AMG cluster is the letting is in a different font and I think it looks a lot more sporty than the regular one...

I like the clusters also.. They are swappable.. just expensive. IF you have someone to do the coding you are in good shape. I wish I had one it would be nice.

By "coding" do you mean something else besides getting the milage correct?

It looks to me like all of the numbers are in the same exact place until 120MPH... so I don't think it would make a difference.

It's the ECU that tells the needle where and how to go, so if your getting one of those and staying with the typical S500 ECU your needle will move just like it does in the S500 and still stop at 130.

The cluster is linked to a few other feature that are seen from the menu in the cluster. The oil level, service intervals, mileage, command displays, lighting settings, convenience settings, gas consumption are among the many info's that have to be downloaded into the new cluster.

An AMG cluster CAN be installed but it must be new if the dealer is installing it for you or a cluster with less than 1000 miles on it. A used cluster with more than 1000 miles on it cannot be done.
