Argos Installation

I have looked at the other models and the easy install of the argos unit. I am purchasing one for my 01 s430 that has a timeport that is fading fast, this afternoon. Has anyone here installed an argos unit in their S class and if so was it any different from the clk installation???? Any help is appreciated. I didnt go puck and v60 cradle route because I have a Palm Treo.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Argos Installation

I installed one in my 2000 S500. I am not the most mechanically inclined, but I got it installed, and was able to put everything back in place.

While expensive, it worked. It does not sound that good with my RAZR, it does sound better with my Blackberry 8700. Their tech support was helpful.

It is the cleanest and best intergated blue tooth solution I have found.

If some one knows of something better, I'd like to hear.

Isn't your timeport analog?
If yes, this will not be supported soon.

If she installs the Argos unit, it will only work with a Bluetooth phone - which her Treo is. The TimePort phone itself isn't a factor here.

I put one in my 2000 s500 about a year ago and so far no problems ,if you are using a RAZR you can get a cradle/charger for it installed in the armrest in place of the factory one. Just keep in mind that your connection will be Bluetooth only regardless of the phone being on the cradle or not. As far as installing it ,the instructions that come with it are adequate , just time consuming (about 3 hours for me). The TimePort is just a collectors item

Try this for a more inexpensive soluiton.

I use a Parrot but dont have it tied into my control unit.
I just have it tied into the front speakers and mute via tel-aid tap in.
Very long and hard process.

This solution however is new.

My company installs about a dozen Parrots every week. It's an excellent unit with great sound quality. We've never installed one in a Benz though... mostly for esthetic reasons.

I put one in my 01 S430 and it works fine. I had a Treo 650 and it pulled down the speed dial names and numbers but when I upgraded to the new Treo 700 it didn't. Install took about 20 minutes and part of that was me rereading the instructions to make sure I was doing it right. I like it because it integrates with the COMAND and there is nothing visible. Only problem I recall is leaving the phone in the car when I get out but that's not a technical issue
