Cheapest way to remove scratches

What's the cheapest way to remove or make less noticable the scratches on the F/R bumpers from parking hits?

I heard of markers?

YOu can always start with a nice wax/buff job. And you can also try using rubbing compound, that works really good.

@S500Sport

Hey just a few weeks back my drunk friend sat on my S5s hood obviously without even looking I knew he must have scratched up something but then it was too late to say anything. Next day I gathered up the courage to have a look, the scratch was quite long but not so deep, got some Polishing Compound and some Turtle Wax & a few chamois, terry cloths, and a buff sponge ($40). I do have a waxing/buffing machine. Use the Polishing Compound first, rub it into and around the scratch a little and use a terry cloth and just your hands to rub it until it dissapears. It has some abrasive in it so the scratches are sanded down. Use your turtle wax next, I bought the liquid one ultimate shine & use a buffing/waxing machine if possible otherwise it would be more time consuming. I waxed and buffed the whole hood and it looked like new, the whole process took me about 30min.

I am not an expert on taking scratches out but I googled and found this to be the most effective method for small scratches and it sure worked like a charm for me and under 50 dollars CAD, don’t think anything could be cheaper.

Good Luck

Scratch Prevention

Has anyone had any experience with Clear Mask; clear almost non detectable 3M plastic applied to the areas most subject to small rocks or other particulates; even parking contact? Applied to the the front portions of the hood and bumper area, as well as the forward facing portion of the mirrors. I used this on my previous MBZ and am having it applied to my new CL600.

Clearmask is cool except it is very noticeable. I don;t like the line where it ends.. it looks ugly over time.

Saw the pictures. You can apply my tecnhnique on the scratches but the places where the paint has actually chipped off, you will need touch up paint.

If I were you I would go to autopia.org and search the car detailing forum for specifically MB paint issues/scratches. You do not want to make a problem, worse.

I had the same marks on the lower part of the front bumper. I took it to the dealer to see if they could or would do anything. Turned out they had a guy that handles this kind of stuff. He completely removed the bumper cover (minus the blowout panels) and repaired the deep scratches and completely repainted the whole thing for $150. Not a bad deal i thought and it looked brand new.

fusion, it was a guy the dealer uses for this kind of stuff. i will try to find out what that shop is called. btw i'm in Washington state so i don't how much of a help it will be. I was real happy with the price...considering it will probably have to be touched up again because of the stupid parking blocks.

See Garage
GS27 Scratch Remover, from wallymart, K-Mart, etc. Works great on minor dings to remove paint transfers, blemishes, etc.
