No radio, no navigation

I was driving back from Manhattan tonight and as I lowered the volume, the radio and navigation froze. No sound, no nothing. The screen is still lit and I can toggle the buttons with the little round knob, but that's it. Every other button won't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried unplugging it? Basically like a reset button.

When your PC Freezez, what do you do, you restart it.

Try restarting the Comm system.

you may have blown a fuse on one of the fiber connected components. Could be phone system, amp, etc.

How do you do this? I am having problems with my command which can be temporarily fixed by shutting the car off and on .. I'd like to actually reset my entire command to see if the problem corrects itself.

Thanks!!

Know it all relatives .. so I disconnected the battery .. ONLY THE LEAD (positive) connection .. which, after speaking with my dad (former mechanic) is not enough, I need to disco the lead AND then then negative too.

Anyway, I will be doing this in the afternoon .. I am worried though because what I did get from just disconnecting the lead was an ABS light, Brake Assist malfunction warning, Airmatic malfunction warning and ESP malfunction warning (take car to workshop) .. so, not quite what I had hoped.

I'm hoping disconnecting the battery totally for a few minutes will reset everything .. and I'm really hoping I didn't just create a bunch of problems where there were none!

After you do it, you may need this too: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ml#post2216730

Benzdriver9, if you find some things not working as they should, you may need it too.

Once the positive terminal is disconnected, the battery is disconnected. Disconnecting the negative is a waste of time. I'm not sure what your dad meant, but one lead is sufficient.

Actually the command did not reset until I disc'd the negative too .. but then he knows more than I about why so I just did as I was told!!

Everything is back to working, of course it did not fix the radio problem that I did all this for so (did not totally reset that either I dont' think .. all presets and options still same on radio) .. so it looks like off to the dealer I go
