What's the purpose of doing that? Most of the stopping power comes from the front wheels and thats why the rear calipers and pads are smaller than the front. The rear is also wired for your emergency brake so I'm not sure it will work in that form. I could be wrong.

I see, but the reason AMG uses this set up is because of the velocity at which those cars are moving. Stopping a car that has around 500 ponnies requires big brakes. Your car's brakes are pretty sufficient for and S430 and once you upgrade to big brakes in the front, the difference will not be worth the extra $$$$$$$$$. Then again, it's really up to you. I drive very hard and with the right pads, my 500 stops well in the acceptable range. If you dont drive fast and hard then the extra $$$$$$$$$$ is pointless.

Is this big brake kit you want to put on your S ??

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kspor...spagenameZWD1V

Looks nice with 8 piston and 13" rotor, You already got bigger wheels so fitment will be no problem, just your stock front caliper and rotor will NOT fit to your rear brake system, you may find some used AMG rear caliper and rotor from ebay. it may fit !!

My car is still fairly new and haven't had a brake job so I'm still running oe. I barely have 16K miles.

They will not fit. the mounting holes for the front calipers are spaced further apart than the mounting holes for the rear. If you notice, even the AMG doesn't have such a big rear caliper except the newer one's and the S600.

You could do it, but you'd have to change your entire rear hub assy, which includes the E-brake assy and all.. Then, you will need Rear rotors to fit.

This can only be possible if you used a set-up from a car that already has big rear brakes like the S600 or Some of the later AMG's an get the entire set-up mentioned above and retrofit it to fit your car.

Ken is right.. all of this would be 98% for show, and 2% for Go. ( or stop in this case..LOL )

Either way.. it's not worth it. and is a major undertaking but i believe it is entirely possible.

horsepower has almost nothing to do with braking power, it's all about weight and speed.

Unless of course your applying the gas and also hitting the brake at the same time, but i usually call this the 1-2-3 steps for a standstill burnout.

bigger brakes on a S-class is a good idea weither in a S280 from europe or Asia or a S500 in the US. the lightest s-class weights at least 4000 lbs, that's alot.

bigger brakes also help decrease fade when compared to smaller ones.

Horsepower is speed. Someone once said "horsepower is how hard you hit the wall, toque is how much of the wall you take with you."
