Can a S500 be badged S55 if swaped with 55 motor??
Could the car be called a S55 AMG????
Or what could it be called??
would a regualr 5.5 badge be sufficent enough on the back trunk and side fender??
just some taughts.... since i can get a 5.5 engine N/A practically new for $5500.

Whatever the VIN say's it is, then that's what it is!! If it is presented any other way, then it is just a fraud IMO. Debadging is for cleanliness not masking.
BTW. the AMG engine is not a clean swapout.. there is a lot of stuff that need to be changed so it can be a lot more costly than just the price of the engine.
Once you pull the original engine out of any car and replace it with anything but an original replacement, it is forever considered a project car....

If you really wanted one, then take the money for the swap and lease or put money down on a used S55.
For the MB/AMG purist (or for those "by the book"), then an AMG badge should ONLY be applied to 100% legit original AMG cars like those in this chart, as well as others not listed but are still true AMG cars in the past (the rare AMG's on w126, w123, etc...):
Having an AMG engine doesn;t make your car anymore AMG than
calling it a Volvo because you managed to fit a volvo engine in it.
Badges are just badges.. not necessarily signs of authenticity.
Though it ( if it made any sense to do.. ) would be nice to have a powerful AMG motor under the hood of your car, all you would have done in the end is transformed whatever car you have to the same car with an AMG engine under the hood.
I guess it would be different if say for example you had an older chevy chevelle or something like that and is coming with a small block 307.. Squeezing a 454 under would be great for that car because that's what people do to those cars.. It's nice to brag that you have a chevelle with a big block 454. Enthusiasts would go wild!!And your car would be sooo cool.
THe whole concept behind the AMG thing as you can see from the above chart is that this is a ultra performance production model that is made in fairly small numbers and stock in comparison to its sister models. Not a modded sub-version.
So taking any mercedes and trying to call it an AMG after an engine mod is well just pointless not to mention expensive.
I have a lot of AMG styling on my car IE Quad Pipes, AMG Sport Package, AMG Style 20"Wheels, Drilled Rotors, Larger Brakes, etc... In fact my car probably looks more 'AMG" than the older pre facelift original AMG W220's. But does that qualify me for AMG badging or Status? I think not!! That would be sooo ghetto...
No matter what it looks like or who is trying to race me, My car is and will always be as it states by VIN and by Title a 2004 S430. So that's how it will always be represented by me.( And I have smoked a lot of teasers BTW. )
There is nothing like Autostick and ESP. LOL.. Mustang guys don't quite understand that combination.. ( Smile )
Again, it's cool to have that big motor and all,, but after you do all of the things that will be required to make it function properly, you may as well pimp your existing engine..
But even if you decide to go that way, in the end your car will remain the same as it sits today.. just with waay cooler, bigger engine That's all.

Other than that. I always have clean air filtering, and good fuel pressure.. This keeps the engine at its peak at all times...
People say the 430 is weak, But I can still twist the rubber of my rear tires with no problems...And put a nice gap between myself and the rest of traffic at take-off.... My 0-to 60 is right the rating for 2004. Which is a little faster than pre facelift versions...
and you guys are def rigth about buying a real 55 amg instead. there so cheap these days it pointless to spend so much on engine swaps, aftermarket superchargers etc.. i realized that alittle too late.
the only thing im doing performance wise to my s500 when i get it back from the shop is VRP shorty headers, primary cat delete and updated custom software from VRP also to maximize my gains.

He still has his AMG badging because his car is a true AMG tho.. It also says C43 in the back not C55
VERY misleading as I was one to find out when we went for a cruise a couple of months ago.. I should of realized it to cause he had TOLD me he was doing the 5.5l swap a couple of years ago.. Lol
I've had the Quads for over a year now.. You probably didn't see them cuz they tuck so nice...
Here is a shot from last year
