02 S500 - Need to restore original ride height, HELP.

Guys,

I lowered my S500 using the simple washer method and altering the positioning of rear sliding mechanism. The rear tire wear on the inside edge has been terrible and I just had to put new EXPENSIVE shoes on the S. I now want to put the car back to its original height setting.

Front is easy, just remove the washers. I'm having difficulty with the rear. Rather than eyeball the height, move the slider mechanism accordingly, etc. I figured somebody would know what the factory height is or what the slider bar setting is from the factory.

Can someone help me with this? I am running 18" AMGs on all four corners.

THANKS!

I would also like to know the original ride height of the S500, can someone measure from the ground to fender with a measuring tape? Perhaps I should sneak to my neighbors S-Class at night and measure it... but that might look wrong

Great idea actually, ask them if it would be ok and just measure theirs.

Please report back asap!

Smile Measure it!!

There is the slider above the rear diff, and if possible take a pic of it, or read its position, ie what tick mark a it set to? Otherwise measure from the ground to the wheel housing lip center.

I don't have it up on a lift yet, but will soon.

Measuring from the ground to the fender, it was 27.5 exactly in the front and 28.5 exactly in the back.

Wassuppp Notorious!! Long time...

I think the your magic number is 15" to 15.25" from the center of the hub

or 24" to 24.25" from the ground if you have the correct size tires. This is for the rear.

You can't go by the setting of someone elses slider because it adjusts a transducer, and the mv reading my be slightly different between the cars.

The easier way is to raise the car fully with no washers in the front and observe the following..

You should have .25 to .5 difference between the measurement of the front and rear wheels because of the arch difference. Front being higher. adjust the rear to this abount and put the car back to normal height and your number should be close to 15.25

Ok. So raise it ALL the way up with the dash button after removing washers and try moving slider to achieve .25" diff in rear? Keep car fully raised entire time.

Yes. YOu can put it back down after you get the height you want in the rear.

Remember you have to drive it down the street and back before taking ach measurement to make sure it has adjusted itself properly.
