where is 2003 s600 fuel pump and regulator?

Anyone know where the fuel pump and regulator is on a 2003 s600? I heard with tuned ecu (Kleemann) you need to increase fuel pressure to keep up with demand--5bar min I think. Thanks. I get a slight ticking sound when flooring it and feel like power is reduced--detonation due to lean afr?

I looked into replacing the pump and filter - about $300 for the pump and $96 for the filter.

Thanks O2, but I want to know where they are located on the vehicle, do you know where they are? Also, I noticed you relocated your intercooler lines off to the sides of engine bay. I did that also with 1 inch clear tubing, which looks cool, but since the lines are at the same height as the intercooler rad cap, I cannot get all the air out, you can see about 1 foot of linear air in the hose on pass side and 2 feet on drivers side. How did you get the air out?

My WIS application is not working on my office computer for some reason... I will check it out for you later on when I am at the shop.

The bleeding is done with a special vacuum pump that you hook up to the IC circuit and it pulls all of the air out.

Your fuel pump is in a box next to your muffler on the driver's side. It's almost to the rear A arm. It appears to be a black box in the crappy Merc STAR manual.

The manual is crap, but get it. I paid $100 at Greenwich Mercedes (it's a CD- STAR Service CD for Model 215 and 220).

Edit: Oh yeah, and the "fuel pump control unit" as Merc calls it, appears to be in the same box. I can't tell for sure because, well, the manual is crap. But it is definitely in the same neighborhood. It appears the fuel pump, filter, pressure sensor, and control unit are all in that box.

I checked mu pump and filter and they look original. Pump is blue and silver made by Pierburg and goes into filter and out to some electrical connector device and on to engine. Is this the fuel pressure regulator? Seems tiny maybe just a sensor. Why are there 4 connections on filter? How do you increase fuel pressure?

YOu can't manually increase the fuel pressure on these cars. The pump and filter assembly handles all of the regulation internally. If you have a pressure issue it may be your filter. BE carefule with some A/M fuel filters.. some of them missed the email about the filter actually regulating the pressure and you will notice slightly decreased performance using those filters. One of them looks like a fram and is sold at autozone but it is not a fram, and it doesn;t regulated that well. I learned the expensive way.
