Different ABC Issue - Noise From Strut
Hello:
I have a 2006 S500 with ABC. Prior to my purchase last year, the previous owner had the front ABC strut replaced under warranty.
Now, I am having a clicking/thumping noise when I turn the wheel that is generally attributed to a ball joint/control arm issue.
I have had those components examined and they are in top shape. I can feel the bottom of the ABC strut move freely when pressure is put on it, but the driver's side does not do the same. There is a screw there that I attempted to tighten, but it didn't alleviate the problem.
Any ideas on a solution or the cause? An error in installation or a defective strut? Or is it something that can be fixed?
Thanks for all of your help!
EDIT: There have not been any ABC errors or messages in the MID.

I have the same issue on the drivers side front strut. Got it checked out dealer said balljoint needs to be replaced. Also top of the strut there's a rubber boot which gets torn. Common problem maybe your boot is also torn with allows movement of the strut.
Best thing to do is get the strut replaced and get your ball joint double checked.

That is correct. Once tightened, it reduced the amount of the sound coming from the vehicle. If it is worn, is there any other fix than replacing the strut?

Thanks!
The ball joint and boot are both in good condition. I've been able to isolate the noise to the bottom portion of the strut that is screwed in via the Allen bot.
