that depends entirely on your location and the shop you use. really best to call a couple shops in your area to see.

Oh, and you realize you can't just slap this onto your 2001 model year, right?

You gotta go to a good bodyshop, unless you want it too look like a can of spray paint.
It's gonna fit, He just needs to cut the tabs on left and right the grill a bit.

My paint expert says you can always tell a painted panel from the rest of the car for the rest of the car's life since the new painted panel will never match the rest (not exposed to nature as long as other panels).

And painting the whole car is not a good option due to high cost. I would estimate a good body shop will charge you $800 to paint the front bumper.

thanks guys!!
thanks guys i appreciate all the input!!

oliver - yeah i did some extensive research, the tabs wont match up so it takes some modding to do, little minor work and also, i thought about gettin the hood to match but with a hood... either used or dealership, so i scratched that. the modded tabs should be fine. (i hope)

das - yeah lol im definitely going to a body shop

corsa - ahhhh yeah i know of this, i thought about it thru and my father who thinks hes funny suggested to get it painted, and leave it outside for the whole winter for the "aged nature look" i told my dad to have another beer, but yeah i thought about it... i really love the front and trust me, one day i will have your car!!

AMG.

sure you can find someone to charge $800, but a sprayed bumper alone should be no more than $350-400

I may be too high on my estimate tusabes, but I am sure a MB authorized body shop (Collision Center) will charge that much for this rather small job.

I had my AMG bumper painted for £100 ($157) here in the U.K. by the local bodyshop and they matched it to the car perfectly, even using flexant in the mix for plastic bumpers.

project facelift
yeah sounds about right, did some calling and got quoted $240 the cheapest i could find with same flexant concentrated stuff, and then of course duraflex bumper - im almost thinking if i could find a 03+ hood with grill for under $300 (wishful thinking) then this whole project wouldnt be bad for under 1k for full facelift/botox with cucumbers on top.

right now im torn between:

1. doing it now.
2. wait for hood and get sprayed altogether (same color/fading.)
3. step back and dont do it (sell bumper)
4. sell the whole car altogether (though this is my 2nd car, i should appreciate it for what it is for now)
5. i need coffee, not sure as of right now what to get.

I had some rust on my old 99 S500. So I got the whole body, hood, bumpers, everything except roof, fixed up and painted, it cost me $1500. Probably should say that it was a buddy doing it or would have been alot more. Looked mint when it was done
My dad has a 2001 S600, he had the 03 AMG bumper, hood and grill installed on it... Looks awesome!
I say do it all at the same time. didn't know you can mod it to fit, will still need a 03 grill if u mod the hood (don't get that S#!tty ebay grill, its a POS!!)

I say if u can makd ur hood work with the bumper i would. There is no point of buying a hood if urs will work and im sure it will seen couple on this forum with this mod. It will make ur car look so much better and fresher. I'm jealous i want one now. Keep us posted

you need a new hood period simply trimming the bottom of the hood will NOT work the 03 grille is longer from top to bottom but also wider at the top corners meaning you would have to do a lot of work to get it to sit properly unless you don't care how the grill looks
