1st gear slipping?

let me say i did search but didnt find anything off the bat that fit the symptoms what my car is producing

2000 S430 w/ ~130k miles

i was driving to work yesterday and went to make a right turn from a near stop, stepped on the pedal and didnt really go anywhere - the best way i can describe it is if youre driving a manual transmission car, and accidently get in 3rd instead of 1st - the car just didnt move until about 2.5k-3k rpms, at which point everything felt normal again

subsequently i jumped on the freeway and no issues whatsoever

leaving work, felt the same lag, and as i pulled up to a red light, all the lights on the dash lit up and i couldnt turn the steering wheel or accelerate. Braked to a stop, put the car in P and turned the car off - waited a moment and back on - no issues except the lag with 1st gear

i managed to get to my buddy's house w/out any further problems but the car is still there

now my search has shown that the flex discs have problems, but the car doesnt really vibrate - i have not yet had the 'stuck in P' problem

also, i have had that 'hard shift' issue after aggressive driving and had a feeling the transmission was going to go soon but just wanted some input

thanks guys

When was the last time the transmission fluid was replaced and level checked?

Although checking fluid levels is part of the service A and B, I don't think it would be documented on your service invoice unless there was a considerable amount of fluid loss.
These cars don't have a fluid dipstick to check the level. You either take it to a shop or a dealer to have it checked or you can buy one and check it yourself. Search for a 722.6 transmission dipstick on the net and you will find one.
This would be my first step, once you know where you are with the level come back and post the findings. There are lot of people here who can help you.

Unbreakable, what was the MAF doing to cause these symptoms? Did you replace it or just clean it?
