Hold the filter with a rag on your left hand and hold the plastic cap with a damp rag on your light hand, turn both hands with counter clockwise motion while pulling filter down with your left hand.
If you're a lefty, do opposite.

Be sure to change ALL the "O" rings provided in the kit. Also be careful of the plastic piece that the oil filter slides over, reason being because of the age of that piece it becomes brittle and may crack or break very easily (which happened to me) and you don't want pieces of plastic running through your engine. Depending on the age and condition, I would change (new one) whenever I change the oil again.

The rear fog light is located in the driver's side tail light. It comes on when you put the light switch to manual and pull it out once it turns on the front fog lights, pull it out a second time and it turns on the rear fog lights. The tail light on the driver's side gets brighter. Have you ever noticed some one going down the road (MB) and the driver side tail light stays on brighter.

The ticking sound will most likely be the hydraulic lifter (valve lifters) making that noise. They depend on oil pressure. A lot of times you will hear the noise the loudest when the car sits for a while and you start it up. It goes away or reduces as the engine warms up and oil pressure builds.

I think it is the same bulb as the taillamp and it has 2 functions.
Part # 000000000633 Taillamp and rear fog lamp 12V-21/4W

What kind of oil did you replace with?

reduce oil level means that you put to much oil in the engine. The ticking sound means that one or several hydraulic lifter and going bad. They lose pressure when the car sits for a while. It will get to the point that they will make noise all day no matter what. They will have to be replaced eventually
