is this the HID ballast?

I am having a intermittent flickering of my HiD on the drivers side, I was told it might be the ballast. Is the picture shown below the ballast I need, if the issue is the ballast?

No! That is not the ballast. The ballast is mounted under the headlight. You will need to remove the whole headlight to get to it.

I installed the new device and its working OK now. When I had the headlight out there was nothing else under the lights, only a set of power cable running to the device indicted.

Is it easy enough to remove the whole light? I have always wondered but haven't tried yet.

You must have not removed the entire headlight housing. The cable you are referring to are 3 wores that come from the ballast under the entire headlight. If you had the flickering 1st would be to replace the bulb. In this you said it was the ignitor which feeds the power from the ballst to the bulb.

I would say it is one of the easiest cars to remove the headlight. There are 2 screws on top and 3 more screws by the grill at the bottom of the headlight that go to the grill/hood support and on to the bumper. You do not have to remove the bumper which makes it so easy.

I recently changed the projector lenses on mine in exchange for some of the Acura TL. Definately a difference in light output and the accuracy of the beam.

Gents,

I jump ahead and spoke too soon, today i went ahead and took the light assembly out for some verification and there is another module under the headlight itself see picts.....(BTW i didn't have to remove the bumper)
