Happy birthday S55 - reached 170,000 miles today!

So today my S55 reached 170,000 miles! It is a 2001 and still running strong. Oddly enough, I've not really had any issues with it the last few ten's of thousands of miles - most of it was around 100k that it needed a few updates. (Like fixing leaking transmission gasket, ball joints, etc.)

The more I drive it, the more confidence that I have in its build quality. I know that these early W220 have a bad rep sometimes, especially for ABC, but I've not had an ABC problem in almost 100,000 miles, save for a replaced hose.

Congrats

My E430 has around 185k now and the S500 has around 110k now and both haven't had any unexpected issues. *knocking on wood*

Good stuff

I think 200k is easy for the M113. I'm shooting for 350k+ for the motor.

I've kept up on all of the regular maintenance, fluid changes, etc. If I hear or feel anything is out of the ordinary, I always get it fixed quickly.

Otherwise, I drive the hell out of it. Some people say "if you accelerate too much, you will ruin the car!"

No way. I drive it everyday and many times I floor it, like getting on highway on ramps, stop and go, etc. I have fun with it, and it's lasting. Of course, never abuse the car - always treat it like a performance machine and with care.

If you guys remember I posted all of the maintenance and costs I had with the car, and as I review that, it's all pretty much normal stuff that comes with mileage. I.e, I never had a major issue like the engine or transmission failing, etc.
