Comand service download?
Does anyone know where I can find an update for the Comand software in my 2000 S500.
I found one but I believe it is for the ML and other Comands, or maybe I am doing something wrong.

This is quite cool, especially if it works.
My 2000 S500 has COMAND 2.5, and I can't get my dealer to install any upgrades later than 2000 MY. They say it could be a $4000 mistake, ruining the unit. They do not seem to know much about it and MBUSA is very specific about which updates are to be done.
I would love to get this done, even for just the MB logo/ Please let us know if you get it to work.

crankin, the update does not give you the logo screen. The only thing that will give u that i beleive is the newer COMAND map cd, thats cuz i sat in a 2002 S430 compared to my 2000 S430, and it had the newer map cd and it had the logo, MB will automatically issue the COMAND update as part of a all-cars update for free, it doesn't do much except fix bugs in the system. You can get it done for free at a dealership, its probably been done before if your not the first owner.

I've had that update. This one is a 2001 cd that some say will work in 2000 2.5 unit, others say not. It sounds interesting, though.

in the pre-2003 s-class, the last release that will work is 9/01, the 9/02 wont work b/c its made for the 2.0 Comand in the 2003 S-class. but for the 9/01, its made for the 2002 S-class which is the same as 2001 and 2000.

Scrub, does that 9-01 update give you MB logo, Intelli-speller ( or whatever its called)?
If not, I probably alredy have that update, and it sounds like will never be able to get these features.

i've been following this thread and i have a few questions.
i bought my 02 in Feb of last year. are there any updates that would apply to this model? and if so what do the updates do for the system?
also...apricotscrub..you seem to be a pretty knowledgable ebayer...do you ever see any orginal MB navigational discs for sale?

My Mom has a 2001 S500.
I tried to switch her cd into my Nav, no dice. Said something about incorrect CD.
So just by putting in a new CD does not update the firmware of the Comand.
I am looking for a firmware update. If it is online, great! I hate to go to the stealership for this, they like to eat your heart out for everything.
Or if anyone has the firmware CD, maybe you can post it somewhere or I can arrange to get it from you.

S55, you already have a newer COMAND that probably has the features we are trying to get for our older ones, like MB logo, intellispeller, etc.
If there are any firmware upgrades for yours, your dealer will happily do them for you. We are trying to go outside of the box, in getting upgrades that MB does not endorse or promote publicly. They may work, may not, or may potentially trash unit, as my dealer says. I think it is a 2001 MY firmware upgrade CD we are trying to do.
