Black Grill...

I painted my grille on a different car (wire mesh grille of a Jaguar) and I will tell you, no matter what I tried, the paint would always begin to chip off. I tried sanding the metal underneath, curing the paint in a heated environment, using various types of hard paint, using a lacquer overcoat, etc. There may be a secret out there, bnut I never found it.

it'll look WAAAY much better w/o the chrome sorrounding windows and all.. + the grill
but basically, the guys at the garage [dealer for u] didnt encourage me a bit .. they said id "be back every 5-7 days to get it repainted .. and for that wont give u warranty" .. b|tches

PowderCoat
They only option is to powdercoat the grill black. Most motorcycle shops can recommend a good place. If you want to paint rims or the frame of a bike, your only option is to powdercoat.

I have seen it, a few times. When AMG made the "Hammer", they always blacked out the grill. Also, a few of the custom shops in NY have used the black out look a few times.
If the whole car is blacked out, it looks pretty aggressive.

I painted the grill black on my SL and left the star chrome. The contrast is good. I'm usually not a fan of the star grill, especially the grills u can buy off of ebay. I like the Lorinser Grill a bit more, but its too expensive.
