2003 S430 Shaking/Minor Rough Idle
Hi guys,after a long search to see if my issue was covered,it seems it was,but not matching the exact criteria.Ok,here is my issue:
I have a 2003 s430 with 87k miles,it has been completely serviced according to maintenance records recieved prior to purchase.When I start the car in the morning,its starts with no issues,but while warming it up,the car begins to shake,only in park might I add,not in drive.Its minor,but noticable.
I want to remind you,it dosent do this while in drive,only in park.The rpm's remain steady,and when i take off,the issue is gone.Its not a huge complaint due to the fact it performs as if it was new,but its bothering me thinking that it could be something that should be replaced.
I have considered pulling the o2 sensor,but I havent worked on a car of this type before,mostly older american cars.Any thoughts on where to start?Any help would be appreciated!

I have the same issue, and have experienced it on a number of mb cars.
if you don't get misfire codes, have had your motor mounts checked, and its as minor as you say it is (and is on my car), its nothing to worry about, especially since it goes away when it warms up.

Wow!No codes have been produced since I got it,so,it must not be something related to the plugs/coil packs etc.. I am guessing its the motor mounts,but why wouldnt I feel it while in drive,stopped at a light?

Check the harmonic balancer sometimes the rubber and metal bond between the two becomes loose. therefore you get a wobbling sensation that is caused by out of roundness. This part is designed to counter balance the engines vibration so that you feel the motor turning. I have seen a number of the go bad on mercedes.

Well the engine is spinning at different rpm's when your in drive than when your in park position and therefore different vibs. I'm not saying this fact in your case but definately points of interest that you may want to verify and eliminate as problems. Thks.

Hmm..Yea,I started thinking it could have been the tranny mount as well,the harmonic balancer sounds possible too.When this bad weather ends,I will start my investigation,would rather it be the tranny mount,its prolly easier to get to than the harmonic balancer..

I have a 2000 s500 I have the same proble like most of you guys..when driving and speed reaches to 45 it vibrates a bit so I tought it was something with the tires or rims or control arms and as such, after long investigation it figures that the vibration that comes from under your seat can be 2 major things either your differential or the transmission mount ..tomorrow im going to do a replacement of both and check other things too, if the vibration is not gone im going to tear my car apart until I find out what it is..i will post an update

I had good results with changing the tranny mount
It didn't look too bad compared to the new one. But the vibrations I used to feel at various RPMs are gone. And they used to occur whether I was reving in Park or driving. They were worse when getting close to the normal shift points, which had me tricked into thinking my transmission was acting up.

Same thing with my 2003 S430, but it idles rough even when in Drive, Reverse, Park, Neutral. The rough idle on my car is more noticeable when the rpms are below 600, about about 1500 the car is very smooth. I reckon its the engine mounts that has gone, but it only has 115k miles on it and had every service done. Anyone have idea on how to check engine mounts?

I had the same issue about 2 weeks ago with my C230 Kompressor 2000: car engine shaking only when stopped or on Park.
Other symptoms were: notable decrease in fuel efficiency and very low power when driving (I could not drive fast).
I changed both ignition coil with new ones from Bosch, which solved my issue.
