Sunroof automatically opening a bit - help!

So my 00 s430 sunroof has been opening automatically just a bit- the rear section goes down a bit , as if its going to retract into the roof

Using the sunroof switch will reposition it closed .

I don't know if there is some electrical glitch causing the roof to open just a crack , or if the sunroof tracks are failing and letting it drop in the rear ??

Obviously I'm concerned that when it starts raining it doesn't open

Anyone heard of this happening ? Is there a fuse or wire I can pull once its closed , to disable it and confirm its not an electrical glitch causing it to open ?? If so any link to location of the proper fuse /wire greatly appreciated

thanks

Sounds as if the sunroof has lost its home position. If I remember correctly, you reset the sunroof by pressing the switch to close it, and holding the switch for several seconds after it closes.

In addition to what Wallyp said you might try tilting the sun roof up. Once it is tilted hold the tilt up button for about 5-10 seconds. Now tilt it back down.

Now open the roof (slide it back) it might slide back a little bit at a time. Just keep hitting the slide back button until it is all the way open. Once it is all the way open hold the open button in the open position for about 5-10 seconds.

Now hit the button to close the roof. If nothing else is wrong it should close all the way. You can now hit the button to open it and it should open all the way.

Thanks guys

I'm a bit afraid to open it all the way for fear something is wrong with it then , it might not close again!!!

I never use it , just want to make sure it can't automatically open a bit once I close it . I just want to pull a fuse or wire to disable it - any tips where exactly to find the right fuse or wire ?? Thanks !!

There is a mechanical way to open/close your sunroof in the event of an emergency. It is outlined in the owner's manual.

I'm sure there is

All I'm asking is if there is simply a fuse or wire to disable the roof , and if so where exactly is it located ?

#77 it is beneath the rear passenger seat.

Here is a diagram with every fuse and relay in the car.
