With s class , I believe you have air spring leaks , when it leaks , you car will sagged down , or maybe air pump blow up , check the 40 amp fuse for air pump , find some leak around air sring connection or air line by spraying soap jix with water , my R500 recently down at the back and I hafe just convert air spring to conventional coil spring , it eirk perfect

found the air leak only passenger side when the car is tilted, that is when i jacked one side, i wonder if it is normal, just had to wait a little while for the compressor to work and raised it back up, no repairs made, works fine no leak using the ramp, how much did it cost you to convert air spring to coil spring? just curious,,,
,,,thanks

coil spring conversion

Once it leaks , it will never come bsck to normal , reason you dont see your car low when driving because the air pump works whenever started , however keep doing so will get more damage to the suspension system and ended with nasty repair bill , your air pump may overload as it tries to to balance , look for my detail info how to convert under R500 air spring conversion , the total cost for me is :$340 /pair OEM coil springs from MB , $250 /complete pairs of top and bottom retainers , $169 coil spring compressor , this is a special tool for MB , without it , there is no way to do and don't waste time to use conventional compressor , shoot me email if you need help , I am very happy with my conversion as it is forever good bye to sag down the car

If you replace no matter what kind of spring , do it by pair as the other is very close to trash

prolly what happened was, when you jacked it up the strut separated and when you lowered it back down it fit fine, but if you hit a bump you might here air leaking out, pretty much you will have to replace it.

Lots of problems have been reported when lifting a s500 on a service lift . I forget the proper procedure is - I think you need to start the car before dropping it back down or something like that

same thing happened to me once with the S600 hydraulic suspension: Jacked up the left front, put a safety stand under the strut point of the link, and left it like that for 4 days.

When I used the jack to lower it, it went all the way down (not just the left front). I jacked it up to almost normal height and started the engine, it rose and has been fine since (even with further jacking for other jobs), and had been fine before with several jackings.
I call it an isolated event, but it points out the possible dangers if you don't use a safety stand.
