Having some exhaust work done....

I'm going to take my car to the local exhaust place soon to have some custom work done.

I'm curious of how to turn off the far most rear O2 sensor. I hear there is 1 back in the back. I'm wanting "open" things up or if I should just remove the mufflers and do straight pipe in place of the mufflers.

It's a non turbo 2001 s600 v12.

I have star diagnostics but I do not read german so if someone has directions how to do this, that would be great. I did turn off the smog pump but that was back in January.

On a non turbo, do you think it will make a difference removing the rear cat or should I just do the mufflers? I'd rather not waste time and money.

Leave the catalytic converters and o2 sensors, remove the mufflers and resonators

You'll get the sound you want and keep it running properly

Remove resonators and mufflers and put pipe in its place?

I'm going to use my current exhaust tips unless the shop has something nice.

Yes , straight pipe behind catalytic converters , up to factory tips.

Aftermarket tips rust out , use the factory if you like them

I like the factory oval but I was looking for dual tips on each side but I would want quality tips plus I'm not sure how dual tips would look where the oval spot in the bumper would be.

Form, function and quality does matter.

I don't know if that's good or bad to have my s600 sound like a nascar race car

S600 sounds like a Formula One car, unmuffled. There's a famous youtube video somewhere...

I think that is only if you buy those Japanese long tube headers which I think the company is closed because they weren't selling enough. I was hoping to get some but couldn't find any.

The sound will be similar even without the Japanese headers

The non turbo s600 is a sweet sounding machine, without any mufflers or resonators

No it will not. Especially on a 600. The turbo models naturally tame the exhaust note due to the turbos , and Keeping The cats provide a muffled effect .

You were after a tame sound so keeping the resonators was ok. Those who want to go more aggressive can delete both mufflers and resonators , and it will certainly not sound like a NASCAR car
