s600 owners: what has been your repair costs.. good or bad... over the last 5 years?
I hear lots of stories regrading bad experiences. Other stories I heat are fine. I don't know of its a case of a vocal minority of of all these cars are bad so plplease do share regardless of experience.
For example, everyone says avoid the N/A S600 and go for the 600 TT instead.
Well I've owned two NA cars which were almost faultless, and one TT where lots went wrong. But the only really expensive things have been the coil packs and the ABC pump, so its not been cheap or easy, but its not been that bad.

Repairs: two front struts, leaking o-ring on ABC pump, two front control arms, oil level sensor. About $5K. All covered under extended warranty/service contract that cost me $3K and covered the car for two years.
Maintenance, all done by me: two oil changes (about $65 for Mobil 1 0W40 and a genuine filter). Air filters ($75). Serpentine belt and tensioner (replaced coolant while I had the hoses off, $100) Transmission fluid, filter and connector ($100). Differential fluid ($25 in Mobil 1 gear oil). New brakes, front and rear, pads (Akebono) rotors (MB), flush brake fluid, (MB) about $600. Flush of ABC and PS fluid, $200 in CHF-11s, another $70 in filters. New tires, Michelin Pilot AS3 $900 mounted and balanced.
Ive gone through quite a lot of gasoline (Shell Premium only), a bit of leather conditioner and Griot's Best in Show wax, and some washer fluid.
The car has run flawlessly for its two and a half years with me. A fantastic road trip machine with incredible smoothness and power. It is simply like no other car in the world. It costs me more to run than the Corolla, but it's SO WORTH IT!

Proper maintenance and up keep will never be cheap.
As stated, if you are handy and can do preventive maintenance yourself you cost drop expenses dramatically.
But parts are expensive.
I look at it this way, reduced buy in and the ability to enjoy a fantastic car for the price of basic transportation balanced with higher than average upkeep and fuel costs.
And let's not forget that in the end you are driving a V12 S class.
What's that worth to you?
