S-series 2003 S500 4matic
Front Airmatic inspection
Newly purchased 2003 S500 w/ 4matic. Inspected the tops of the air struts, noticed one has major hairline cracks visible, the other looks newly replaced. The newly replaced strut looks different from the strut with the hairline cracks. Wondering what model the replacement is and and comments on how soon I need to replace the strut with the hairline crack.

Test for air leaks with soapy water - no leaks, no problem.

Some like to seal the cracks with epoxy to get more life out of the strut

Mb also sells a strut top repair kit

Thanks for the replies, good stuff.

The "new" strutt in the pic is a Arnott, had to go through the wheel well to find the make.

Arnott struts are usually remanufactured, and they are quite cheap too. as low as $300/strut.

Arnott now supplies either new or remanufactured Airmatic struts.

FYI, I called Arnott and asked it they sold strut top repair kits. I was told no, nothing more.

Oh cool! Arnott sells NEW struts now. The Arnott struts are also Lifetime warranty, so when it fails again, just claim warranty on it.
