My S600 headach
Good day
My name is Richard and I am the proud owner of my headach 2001 Mercedes-Benz S600.
I bought the car about 3 years ago and been working on it ever since. I do not plan on selling the vehicle nor daily drive it. It's more of a personal project/challenge.
which brings me to my point, I bit off more than I can chew.
the cars biggest problems are cooling and misfire which I can't seem to figure out.
I bought the vehicle with 6× miss fire on left side of the engine. A hole in the radiator. And fan assembly not kicking in.
Since then. I have replaced the coil pack with a tested/warranty used one that has worked. Replaced the radiator with a OEM used radiator. Replaced the temp sensor and thermostat assembly with OEM new from Mercedes, And also replaced the water pump also OEM from Mercedes. With all new fresh coolant.
At first after starting it up it was running perfect. No codes firing on all 12 and nothing to complain. Engine didn't over heat while idling or test driving but I already noticed that the fan never kicked in. After about 10min idling after the test drive it starts to shake and miss fire. Read all codes and it was miss firing on 3 cylinders. Believe it was 1 5 8. At the same time I got a coolant warning light and the engine started over heating.
Following day. Kept testing the car. Started missing on 4 cylinders and doesn't cool at all any more.
now is missing on 6 cylinders(cyl, 1.2.4.11.9.12) and also doesn't cool anymore..
current engine codes are following
p2073,p2050,p2051,p2055,p2056,p2058,p2059,p205A,p2 043,p2044.

I have gotten in touch with v12icpack and will def use their services. I have inspected all the red insulators for any cracks of signs of wear. Only thing I haven't gotten to yet was to pull the spark plugs. I had them out about a year ago and all tested good. Cleaned them up and checked measurement and put them back in. Will for sure pull them again and consider changing them all.

Fan controller is hardwired to the fan motor and very difficult to separate. You really need to replace the whole fan. It has to be a 850W fan. I bought one from an S320CDI. The motor is integrated with the fan. There is no belt drive on the S600TT. There's no programming needed.
What spark plug gaps do you have? It should be 0.7mm / 0.028".

I think that Mercedes says to replace these every time that the ignition units are removed. If so, it sounds as if Mercedes considers these to be critical parts.
