500bhp is special now, but in 2 years time it will be average, (for you at least) and since AMG sell on power, I wouldn't be surprised by a significant power upgrade to future models.

I have a feeling you may be right. There is a danger with this also. I think they should put equal concentration on driving dynamics. Make the cars perform like the BMW M cars rather than just sticking big lumps in heavy cars.

G Unit, lets face it, when are you ever going to track your car? What does BMW M have thats so special (when driving both AMG and M) at the same speeds through town or the motorway? Connectivity right?. Well, steering feel may get better from AMG, but you can't have M5 feel in an S-class. MB will never allow it. Probably not in the CL either. The only two models that should have ultmiate feel are the SL55 and the E55, but for some they do and for some they don't its all subjective. The reason for all that excesive weight is Mercedes is still using steel to build its cars, not aluminium which is more expensive and not nearly as 100% safe when it comes to safety and rigidity. Now, when you hav a 700Nm + torque producng engine, you need excessive strengthening of the drivetrain and chassis, bigger brakes and wheels, they all add weight, not to mention that steel body, and all that distronic and linguatronic and whatnot, the result is a 2000kg car. AMG do theur best to make it handle satisfactorily, but there's satisfactory handling and then there's BMW M. Two different philosophies, the ONLY things these car companies have in common is their 500hp and German origins, thats it.

Asking for M3 CSL handling from an AMG S/CL classes is like asking for massaging seats in a 360 Modena. How does that look?

I wouldn't mind an SL55 with the feel of a 360, I don't think anyone would. But I know I may never get it, and thats ok, because that would the perfect car, and does such a thing exist?

If you want something that "perform like the BMW M cars" why not buy M car? Why go to MB and ask them to make M car?

What is wrong with that? The japanese tend to be slightly better in electronics, if Mercedes can learn something from Lexus eg. Navi, then that is only good for merc drivers.
