I was reading the C32 forum on this board and it mentioned something about being able to enable an option where a chirp noise happens each time you lock/unlock your car. You have to take it into the dealership for a tech to enable this mode, has anyone ever done this on there S class?

I have never heard of that. I always loved that about the Benz, I would never want it making all that rukus anyway.

It should work on every Mercedes, whether anyone has done it or not. Why don't you just take it to the dealer and have it done?

I have not heard of a dealership having this capability. A stereo shop told me they could wire up a chirp to the turn signal lights but then evertime you hit your turn signal with the car running you look like a jacka$$. Forget about the chirp unless you get an aftermarket alarm which could cause some serious problems.

If a stereo shop doesn't have people smart enough to figure out how to wire it up so that it only works when both lights blink simultaneously, then I would not patronize that stereo shop. Then again, I wouldn't patronize most stereo shops after seeing how they hack stuff into cars.

Even with the chirp function wired to work only when both blinkers operate, you'll still look bad if your hazards are activated. Not to mention, I think it will chirp three times when locking the car.

I think any Mercedes dealership with a service department is required by contract to have the Mercedes diagnostic tools, so they all should have this capability.

(If anyone wants this in the SF Bay Area you can contact me.)

I had it done on my old C320, and on my old CLK430, I tried to get it done on my ML but my advisor said it only works on the MLs from Holland? I think its bs but some dealerships can activate it, its just a matter of changing the settings to those of the cars in Holland. Im getting it done on my CLK500 now.

when steve (mbenznl) was in nyc he was able to do it on my friends (fazooley) 04 e500 and kompressor2004's c230. he tried to do it on my 2001 w208 but it wouldnt work. under the locking section on the star diagnose for my car it had 3 options, i think they were belgium, US and rest of the world. we thought it would work if switched to belgium, but no good.

Viktorious, what year was/is your clk430?

scorchie, you are right it chirps 3 times when locking the car
