Metal in my oil fiter (ENGINE DYING)

Usually by the time metal debris is coarse enough to see, the wearing part is shot and catastrophically failing. That being said, whether or not it makes sense to pay the Dealer to do the teardown depends on the overall condition of the engine. It could be a simple easy to replace part or it could be deep inside. Installing a good used engine is usually much less expensive than a major disassembly and restore to factory usable tolerances. Replacing lots of used, but still serviceable parts is very costly with labor costing lots and lots.
It is not possible to make a solid recommendation without a lot more information about the engine, the rest of the car, its value as-is; with a 'used' engine; with an 'overhauled engine; and with a factory remanufactured engine, and your plans and desires.
