W220 S320CDI Central Locking/mirrors/headrests stopped working

Hi

I ran the battery a bit low last weekend and the car only started after many attempts and pretty much on the last throw of the dice after I'd left it for a while. After this, the central locking, mirrors and trunk do not operate via the key fob or manually. The rear headrests don't operate either. The alarm still activates and deactivates via the fob and I get into the car with the emergency key which, as you doubtless know, is an absolute pain. The local specialist plugged it in and couldn't find anything. The battery was good in his view. It's a generic one not Bosch or similar. I then took the car for a STAR report. This found a number of faults but nothing about the central locking. The man suggested I try the spare key which I did. Just like the main key - alarm on and off, starts the car but all the same issues. Anyone had the same issues or have any suggestions/comments? Many thanks

Go to the right rear seat area and locate the floor lamp behind the passenger's heels. Pull it out of the carpeted wall - no need to disconnect it. Locate the yellow 20-Amp fuse near the inboard end of the fuses, and take it out. Check it to make sure that it isn't blown. Reinstall the fuse, reinstall the floor lamp. Pulling this fuse resets the PSE (Pneumatic Service Equipment) computer. Hopefully, this will solve your problem. Let us know what happens.

Thank you very much wallyp. I did what you said and the 20A fuse was blown. I replaced it with another 20A fuse from the trunk. I think the buzzing noise from the trunk was new but can't be sure. The mirrors started working with the fob but then stopped. The central locking didn't work at all. Checked the fuse again and it is not blown at the moment. So same as before but fuse not blown now. At least the car didn't cost me much! Sticking with it and trying to find the answer. What do you think? Cheers

Possible problem with the PSE pneumatic pump. It is located behind (in front of)the trunk lining in the forward left corner of the trunk.

This might help: https://www.benzworld.org/threads/w2.../#post-5758758

Hi
I have W220 S320 CDi 2005 model,my benz engine do go off when i ply it on dusty roads.I recentry travelled on a dasty road and the car started vibrating and aircondition refused to work and engine keeps going off.I managed to bring it home by checking on the fuses in the engine and ensuring they were all properly fixed.
The only issue i am facing now is the enbine goes off when the car on and idle for 10 to 20 minutes,i removed the key and my head llights were on till i took the battery terminal off.
May i know what is wrong with my car?

Why don't you make an effort to learn the rules of these forums first?
You hijacked a completely unrelated thread with your problem.
In your case, start a new thread with your problem, and do some basic trouble shooting.
Good luck!

Thank you very much Wally. I'm not much of a mechanic so I took it to a specialist who told me it was indeed a PSE problem and MB want about $1000 for a replacement! That's too much for me so I've asked them to try and find a used one. Whilst it was in there they replaced a DPF sensor and the car has run better since then. They also found a leak in a pipe going to the turbo and will replace that too shortly. I think this is the likely cause of a MAF error on the STAR. Hopefully I can get to a situation where it is reilable and works because I think the cars are amazing value and feel pretty solid overall. 2005 model. I will let you know how I get on Wally and thank you very much again.

All fixed Wally! It was indeed the PSE and the motor had burned out due to working too hard as a result of an air leak in the driver's door. A refurbished one was put in, everything worked again immediately and I am going back shortly to get the leak fixed otherwise I have been advised that it will burn out again. The replacement cost me $500. I'm happy with the result as the man gave me a 6 month warranty and was very truthful and honest. He offers a worldwide service and will assess for free if people send in PSEs to him. He does a lot of work on SLs I understand. When the car is in it will be serviced and a new hose to the turbo put on and we will then see if it is strong going forward. I aim to put 30,000 a year on it and it has 123,000 miles already so we shall see. Most of all, I am so pleased to have met an honest specialist who really knows what he is doing. I think he should change his name to Mr PSE. I was stunned at how quickly he worked. Well done Wally. You had it right!! Thank you.
