I think it depends on the year. They had some issues with them the first couple of years. Now, I think things are better.

Might want to post on ferrarichat.com to see some additional answers.

Yeah, post in the Other Italian forum

When we first had it a few years back, the car rocked, the tranny sucked for slow cruising.

I'm 99% sure it's been fixed, but check with current late model owners to be sure.

Trans was the worst part when I drove one. Dealer told me that a true automatic transmission was to be introduced for '07. Fun car but now to slow to keep up with the new batch of fast 4 doors

We test drove one as well were awed by the performance and luxury of the car. I don't know if its 105K+ stickered car but it does hold its own. We were getting looks left and right from others when we pulled into the Ray Catena MB on Route 1 to show our salesguy.

He was getting really anxious at the thought that we might take our deposit to Maserati instead...

Instead of F-Chat try MaseratiForum.net it's a really active site with lots of infomation

The word is that a fully automatic 7 Speed is due for the MY06 or MY07 but this was apparently from a 3ed party who "overheard" a Italian Test driver talking about the new transmission There is a company EuroTekDesigns that does ECU upgrades and afterwards many Quattroporte owners say that there is no hesitation off the line as if it was stock another thing that helps that some have reported is the fact that the clutches are set so they do not burn out quickly but many have asked their dealers for a more aggressive setting and it helps plenty. Personally I’ve test driven an 05 and just test drove a Sport GT this past week. Trust me the problems aren’t fixed completely but they have since much improved. I couldn't deal with the transmission, I'm forced onto some pretty heavy trafficked roads and it isn't practical. However, if you can deal with the slight problems in the transmission go for it, you will never regret it.

I'm still waiting to hear if the 575's V12 will come to it in the near future :v

Also, check out this video of it... http://www.autoclips.net/detail.php?...9&id_video=216

Got to wonder what will become of Maserati since it is now part of Alfa and no longer associated with Ferrari. Beautiful car though - I'd own it with a true auto. Seven speed auto from MB????

I don't find this car that attractive on the outside really. But that is a personal taste. I also don't think it's worth 150 considering the back seat also isn't very big, not nearly as big as an S. Also from what I have heard though the materials fro the most part on the inside are good, it is not very well put together.

thats my dads only gripe with the car, by not having a regular ol' auto tranny. i told him its more fun but for a guy his age i can understand where hes comin from. he loves the design and body of the car like hell tho.

now hes considering the new a8 which i LOVE. i think that would probably be a good competition with the new batch of luxury sedans.
