S550 Delivery missing something

S550 Delivery missing something
I exchanged information today on another forum on the delivery of a S550 in Andorite Grey with the AMG package. This is one of the pictures he posted...nice huh...

Later in the thread we discussed the antenna and phone system. Well he told me the phone antenna on the roof for the phone was not operational and the connection for the cradle in the center console was not installed. He said they are on "national backorder" and that when available will be installed by the dealer at no cost (I would hope so.) In the meantime he cannot install his phone or BT module.
I don't know if this part is normally installed at the factory or done at the port of entry at the VPC. Regardless this is a black-eye for MB. Shortage of optional equipment and now shipment of a vehicle without a standard feature installed. This is a $100K purchase! I don't know what the specific problem is but something is rotten in Stuttgart. (?) Hopefully this will be a short term situation but if it happened to me I might very well tell the dealer "when the car is ready for delivery call me"....difficult to do, but I have refused delivery before on other makes. I just cannot believe how this kind of debacle could happen...

It is the dealers choice to take the car from the vpc without the phone system, if the car is on priority 1 and pre-sold to a customer mb wants the customer to sign a release that says they will accept the car without the phone system, and when they are available the dealer will install. I have had many s550`s sitting at the vpc delayed for 3-5 weeks waiting for the systems to be installed, It was our decision at the dealership to wait, and not accept the cars without the phone systems because we know it could really cause problems down the road when the customer is expecting their phone system and it is backordered. My advice wait, do not take that car, if the dealer says they shipped it anyway that is b.s ,This problem will be corrected quickly, MB does not want 100k cars sitting at the vpc that are sold

I get the feeling MB introduced this car before all the loose ends were in order. Hopefully since my build is in 5D1 the problem will be taken care of by then.

I would not accept the car unless it was just like you had ordered it. It is just like paying a contractor in full before completing the job. It might work out and it might not. There are no guarantees. I would opt for the peace of mind choice and accept a "completed" car. Good luck.
