Valentine V1 vs K40

Hi Everyone
I was advised by Glausser that perhaps the K40 radar is the right way to go for my car..... It even uses bluetooth.

Was wondering if anyone has this and can tell me they are happy with the coverage, and if they ever compared it to the Valentine......

Thanks for your help!!!

I've had them both and my opinion is the Valentine is much better. Their unit tells you what direction the radar signal is coming from and how many. It is also upgradeable. Its only disadvantage is that the K40 can be a remote and the Valentine must be stuck on the windshield. Also, in an S class (at least a 220W) there are only three spots you can put it and only one is really workable for efficient rear detection. It is the a space in the lower four inches of the windshield just off center where there is no infrared lament. You can get a remote signaling device that will eliminate the display on the windshield unit.

My guess is that the dealer is recommending a K40 is because he can sell it or gets a kickback from their installer. A Valentine 1 is only available from Valentine.

I had a friend compare my V1 with his K40 calibre. Sensitivity was even on all bands but the K40 falsed less. I am planning to install the K40 soon.

LOL. No offense intended, Chucky300 - but this has got to be the 20th thread on this exact subject.

To summarize: folks who have a Valentine and love it, love it.

Folks who have the K40 and love it, love it.

I personally have always gone with K40 models -- so there's my input....

Easy does it....... That last bit about the dealer getting a "kickback" is not the case here....... In fact, he is not actually selling anything to me - and if i were to go with K40 - I would be going to someone here and buying it an installing - totally unrelated to the dealer.

Hi. You are right - I have not been a member of MBWORLD that long - and have developed a few friends here recently so I thought i'd ask their opinion, the same way i'd ask my local "realtime" friends if they could give me an opinion on something they knew about.

That particular dealer appears to have a good reputation and perhaps could get me to come to Denver for the right price and right car. If you're buying a K40 from an unrelated source there is mostlikely no relationship. I am a little skeptical of car dealers when they recommend a product they can obtain over one they cannot.

Totally know what you mean. And, that happens a lot! but in this case, is definetly not at all like that. If you want a mercedes, i would urge you to go to Dmitri (OR GREG) and give them a chance at your business. In the same friendly way I am recommending them, is the same way they would reccomend K40... just a suggestion between friends.

Both are obnoxious detectors when driving in the city.. The Valentine will make you want to chuck it out the window.

I have owned both (K40 is in my truck) and for highway driving they are great.. if most of your time is in the city get an Escort X50 or the new hi-end Bel.
The Valentine fan boys will chime in and cry foul but trust me its a falses a bunch in town..
My suggestion is to buy the Valentine, try it for thirty days and if it doesnt work out return it. If you go for the K40 you are stuck with it and holes in your dash if you dont use the LED pods.

www.radardector.net is a good forum to read..

I tried the Passport and I thought it was a good dector, but with my high frequency hearing loss, I could barely hear it. I sent it back and went back to my old V1. The V1 is plenty loud.

I have the built in K40 front and rear with radar jamming and laser diffuser

The K40 has always been excellent for me, and I've never gotten a ticket since I've had it, and I've had it on my CLK for over 5 and a half years. :-)
