To indicate that the 2007 S Class will be selling for less than dealer invoice in 2 months is idiotic and anyone who believes this will be looking for the next Brooklyn Bridge sale...:-)
I live in Brooklyn - and aint nobody selling my bridge hehe.

But point is what i mean. Its just banter from someone that wants current S Class drivers to feel bad. Almost like a revse sour grapes (ie, if someone does get 8K off and we, current drivers say "well its probably gonna be a lemon, its ugly, bad color choice, ugly leather, probably all scratched up...etc"

I spent a lot of time in Brooklyn (Woodhaven I think it was). Had an uncle who lived there, my Father was born there, my Grandfather worked on the bridge construction, and I have never seen the price for the Bridge lower than MSRP...:-)

Also spent many happy days and nights at Ebbits Field watching the "Boys of Summer" play great baseball...traveled from NJ.

I think the car has no option at all. He paid around $80K for the car (before tax ??, I don't know), I was told that it's harder to get discount for the S550 with AMG package, due to higher demand.

im not sure why you guys are criticizing lookatmee.....i must have missed it where he was criticizing the deal you guys received. What is invoice? Is invoice price THE BOTTOM DOLLAR at where a dealer doesnt make any more profit? I dont think so. And i dont think it is so far fetched to get a 2007 at close to invoice when the 2008's are on the horizon.

What am i missing?

Im not an expert or MB employee, but it may be because the S550 is plentiful now and there is still quite a bit of profit margin on the car, even at a reasonable discount. I mean look at how many cars are on ebay....even look at Glauser's ads where they say they have double digit quantity of cars on the lot. Plus take into account my previous posts where invoice price does NOT equal break-even. Now that everyone knows what invoice prices are, i have a feeling dealers have adapted.

Invoice is the amount that Edmunds or Kelley show as Dealer Cost. There are holdbacks and dealer incentives which are not generally discounted and the invoice is certainly not the bottom line for the dealer to make any profit.

Glauser is a volume S Class dealer and he always has the largest on site selection. His policy is to sell cars...Fletcher Jones in LV (and 3 or 4 other stores) it is like pulling teeth to get a discount on almost any car. You shop the market and take the best deal you can find at the time you are ready.

Umm...Lookatmee indicated that one could get 6K and in 2 months 8K off on a 2007 S550 and that used were selling wholesale for 80k...the way he posted is what causes the responses. If he knows that you could buy one at that price then let the forum know where...

BTW...the 2008 won't be out until September 2007...that's a year from now.

sure, 80K is a wholesale price, but not available to consumers like me. So in essence not realistic.

My mistake to think the 2008MY would be out so late....i remember seeing the 07 in spring 06.

I think you are misinterpreting lookatmeeee's tone.....or i am. For the price you paid there is value in enjoying your car for the past few months. I would have loved to have one in the same time table, but i have had to wait. Thankfully the W221 is a new body style which will stay fresh for quite a few years, AND the depreciation wont be like the 06, which is quite brutal. The price difference between 07 and 08 will be minimal, as well it should be since there wont be much change physically.

Maybe so...but Ummm and an almost attitude of I have special sources you don't have (you paid too much) have a false ring to them. The original poster said 5K off and he has not reposted. lookatmee sounded just like his user name...I can do anything you can do better.

Was he able to help you after you sent him the PM? Personally I hope he can but he should offer help to all...I am sure the source he has would love to be bombarded with offers to buy. I assume the source is a broker since on another post he indicated he was in law school and only 24. Oh to be 24 again...

I dont think posting the name of the dealer and especially the salesman will help anything.

On ebay, $5k off is being advertised. Its a car and its subject to supply and demand as any other product, there are many more than 7 dealers in metro NY..more like 40 ( enclosed is a listing of dealers that are easily reachable within 2 hours in Metro NY by car, there are still more dealers that I have not included on my list) and some of those dealers have over 50 S550's in stock...(there are plenty of cars out of state too) ....goto Edmunds.com and requst a quote, you will get plenty of telephone calls and offers...I have a 06 S430 that was leased on a 13mo. "bridge" lease from Glauser at a very cheap price...all the NY dealers said it was impossible. Im about to return the car and get an S550 or something similar....Good Luck.

That one for 5K off is the asking bid and the reserve is not met. It also has over 5000 miles on it if it is the black AMG model...

I am sure the salesman or dealer would love to have his name put here for some free referrals and also there are a couple of real buyers who would love to get 8K off a "new" S550.

I am sure MB USA would not be too happy after every dealer complains.

You are in Nevada which is a different market, there are plenty of cars available here and it is turning into a buyers market.

Additionally, it is my understanding that the more S class sold now translates into better 4matic allocation in Nov. This was a similar situation 1 year ago when glauser was blowing out the S430's to get allocations on the new S.

Every dealer complains about what. If you have a dealer willing to discount this car 8K, then as a private buyer you have the right to tell anyone you want what you paid and where you got it. Dealers have posted prices here and the sponsors often post specific sale prices for cars they have in stock.

LV has the states (as in USA) largest MB dealer...Fletcher Jones and regardless of the market he is a tightwad and offers little incentive for me to shop there. BTW...I bought my S550 from Glauser in early April...the S430 sales last year is the reason he has so many allocations now on the S550.

However, a buyer's market for a luxury sedan will not usually generate this vehicle being sold at invoice (which you claim with 8K off of the base car) just 6 months after introduction and with sales for August being 105% over 2005 and YTD being 96% over last year. If you got that kind of deal more power to you and let's see the pic's...we love them here.

ok, i will post the photos.

My wifes S430 goes back Sept 20. so I have to decide if I want to take the car before or after Oct 1st when the lease rates change again. We are going on a trip Oct 4-> 17 so maybe scheule delivery for when I return.

Either way, I will post here....

Sounds great...congratulations!

I would think the lease rates would go up rather than down Oct 1....
