Jack, The "cup" you are referring to is the Tavistock Cup played between Lake Nona and Isleworth(which is actually where I live). Tiger still has 2 homes here in Isleworth and I have been told that it may be a while before he actually makes the move to his "other" house as he is planning to renovate that compound to his and the wife's liking.

That's it...a beautiful place to live for sure...

It is a great tournament to watch on TV...I can imagine how great it is to be there and see the interplay of the pros in a relaxed atmosphere...thanks for the fill-in.

I dont know about everyone else, We didnt get my S Class as an investment. We got it because its beautiful, its safe, its pretty damn cool, etc.... Anyone buying it for an investment should also be considering investing in Enron, and the like.

If you can go ahead and get your S Class at $8000 off MSRP...woopie, go get it! Thats definetly a very amazing, yet quite unbelievable deal. However, unless I saw that in writing, I cant believe that. With the stats of S Class sales, there is just NO REASON for any of these cars to be sold at that price. The dealer would be stupid. Tossing Money Away.

For now, I shall believe it is just jealous banter from someone trying to dull the sensations of current S Class drivers and bring them out of their Euphoria..... Dunno bout u Jack, but I am still on my High and hearing someone claim we did not get such an amazing deal hasnt effected me at the least =)
First of all.. You misquoted me.. $5000-6000 off right now, in a few months about $8000 off. Also, if you haven't noticed most Mercedes and ALL '55 AMG models are heavily discounted right now because they aren't selling very well and they are overproducing.. Mercedes is known to wholesalers and auto-brokers as the WORST car to purchase right now. For example, I know of a 2006 E55 w/ 1000 miles that just went through auction for $70,000... Think about that!

As to jealousy.. I'm sorry but that isn't the case here. I could purchase one cash right now if I felt like it. I'm merely informing everyone else on this board how much they should be paying.
For everyone who wants one.. Go to
www.switchcars.com

Doug Tabbutt is my auto broker and damn good at what he does, he gets the car you want at the price you want (yes, it's a shameless plug but it should be because he has found me quite a few cars at amazing prices).

What do I drive now?

SL55 which I just sold for a 360 Modena..

Why am I in this forum? I have a Range Rover Supercharged, a $100K vehicle which depreciated like a rock too to its current market value of $81,000 (2006 w/ only 3000 miles). I'm in the market for a quiet luxo-sedan to replace the big Rangie and the S550 is what i'm looking at. What am I going to do? I'm going to wait 2 more months so that I can get $7000-8000 off MSRP, OR pick up one of the $80-83K used ones w/ less than 5000 miles that are now showing up on the wholesale market

-Chris

Was he able to help you after you sent him the PM? Personally I hope he can but he should offer help to all...I am sure the source he has would love to be bombarded with offers to buy. I assume the source is a broker since on another post he indicated he was in law school and only 24. Oh to be 24 again...

Yup, i'm a young'n..haha, and doing too much car shopping for my own good!

Sorry I don't check often on mbworld due to being under the weather the past few days. However, I posted it above and will do it again here:

www.switchcars.com
www.carsforstars.com

These are the websites of my auto-broker Doug Tabutt, he will get whoever wants an S550 @ discounts of MINIMUM $5000 off MSRP, possibly $6000 on certain vehicles, and in a few months between $7000-8000 off.

Hopefully I will find myself a lightly used one under 5000 miles soon in the mid-low 80's :-P! Crossin my fingers

The S55's an the E55's are suffering because the E63 is coming on the street now and the S55's and CL55's are in the same boat with the S65 now selling and the S63 to be here in 2007. The new CL is also just about ready also. I took a hit on my S430 since MB had $15K trunk money in the deals just prior to the W221 being released for sale.

I am not famiiiar with brokers and how they operate and really don't care at this point in my life...but as I say, Invoice 6 months after intro is not a normal situation. If the cars are new, are not stripped down base cars and have popular options and colors, then it would pay someone to look into it.

As a sure sign of the times, walk into MB Manahattan which is factory owned, check out what discount you can get on a S550....the car is in discount mode, im not sure what the big deal is.

I don't think anyone doubts that the car is in "discount mode." Most will have discounts within the first 6 months after initial demand and first adopters slack off. However, one would assume from some posts that $5K is almost automatic and fast appoaching $8k, or invoice level. I don't think this is the case and for those near a purchase decision, it creates a feeling of "my dealer is screwing me." For them this is a big deal when somebody indicates he can save $5k or more on a new S550.

Using ebay pricing and bid info is useless to determine a trend...find out what the deal closed at and you will find out how big the discount was. Lookatmeee contact is a broker selling used and a few new exotics and high end cars. But how many new S550's he can sell for $6K off now and for $8K off in two months is questionable. Some dealer may have a couple of odd colors or needs to reduce his floor plan and make that deal but they are few I would bet.

BTW...cars are "always" in discount mode. I received a discount in April on the March released S550 with AMG kit bigger than some you see plastered on ebay. But that's only because I am such a nice guy...LOL

Enjoy your new one...looking forward to the pictures...

Actually...

My broker will get any S550 in any color w/ any option package w/ that same discount. I don't know why you're making such a big deal,$5000 off even a $90,000 vehicle is less than 5%.. Most cars at that price range are marked up about 8-12%

Just expressing an opinion because on the web, many big discounts do not materialize when it's time to deliver the goods...

I hope what you say is true and some of the members here can get $5K (it was 6K and quickly moving to 8K in 2 months) or more off their S550's. From the many real buyers on this forum looking for a better deal than some dealers are offering, he will be one busy guy.

I just checked Edmunds on a loaded S550 listing at $110,695. Invoice on this car was $103,025 or about 7%+. The TMV (what dealers are getting for it) is $110,695. Now I know Invoice is not the end of the line for profit but selling these cars a couple of $1000 over Invoice is not a desired outcome for the dealer.

I will really be interested to see how many of the forum members jump on this and report their results to us.

Just sent a request to Lookatmeee's broker Doug Tabutt over at Switchcar.com on getting me a S550 at the discount level mentioned.

They do charge a 1% fee for their service so I factored that into the price range I was seeking which ends up being a $6100-$7100 net discount.

Sounds good...hope you can put a deal together. Does he deliver through a local dealer or does he ship the car to you?

Jack, I haven't heard back from him yet(their site claims a 30-minute response time) I also just read their term of service aggreement and they do charge a non-refundable $200 consulting fee which is applied toward the 1% commission fee if a vehicle is purchased through them.
Basically, I just want them to inform me if my desired deal is attainable and if so I will gladly utilize their services.

Meegle,

There's a quicker way to do this..

E-mail Doug @
doug@switchcars.com and tell him that Chris Young sent you. He shouldn't have to assess you the $200 fee if you are fairly serious about getting the car through him. There is a $1000 brokerage fee, along with a $1000-1500 fee to have the car shipped out to you. If you pick up an S550 w/ a few options that still gives you a net of about $5000 discount on whatever car you want. Sometimes he will be able to find you a car in your state so you can just go and pick it up yourself. Furthermore, if you wait another 2 months or so discounts will be even greater.. Remember, Mercedes prices drop like rocks -- they're known for knocking $$ off of MSRP and for having huge depreciation hits.

BTW, if anyone is thinking of SL's.. SL65's can be had in the 115's now from 2005! Great steal for one helluva car

Lookatmeeee,

Doug Tabbutt got in touch with me and the best he could offer was $5000-$6000 off MSRP but once you factor in the fee and shipping charges, my net discount would be in the neighborhood of $3000-$3500 with $4000 being the absolute top which I can already get locally.
Thanks anyway for the lead.

My dad just leased an S550 for 39 months, 15000 miles, $0 down (taxes included in payments) for $1299.00 a month. The dealer told me we got a huge discount. Maybe the dealer was BSing to make himself look good, but the payments sound pretty low to me.

Really depends what the MSRP was and what the final figure the lease was based on if he got a "huge discount."

LV has the states (as in USA) largest MB dealer...Fletcher Jones and regardless of the market he is a tightwad and offers little incentive for me to shop there. BTW...I bought my S550 from Glauser in early April...the S430 sales last year is the reason he has so many allocations now on the S550.

However, a buyer's market for a luxury sedan will not usually generate this vehicle being sold at invoice (which you claim with 8K off of the base car) just 6 months after introduction and with sales for August being 105% over 2005 and YTD being 96% over last year. If you got that kind of deal more power to you and let's see the pic's...we love them here.
Fletcher in LV is known not to deal. When you're the the only who*e in town you don't have to. My friends that live in LV don't buy cars from him. To make a purchase of this size it is no big deal to go to Glauser in Denver or to any of the many M-B dealers in and around Los Angeles where they are highly competitive. Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach is highly competitve. One of the reasons is that the supposed second largest M-B dealer in the world is only fifteen miles away in Laguna Niguel.

My thoughts on W221 discounts. The car has a seven percent markup with no trunk money and the dealers are not going to go into the holdback on a car that is selling well. Anyone that can get $8,000 off on a brand new S550, I say PROVE IT! The only way in this market that may happen is on an overoptioned car in an undesireable color combination.

I remember back in the 1990's when Jaguar brought out the first XJR. It if was all black they didn't want to negociate at all. In the horrible aqua blue metallic, lots of money off MSRP.
